So, being a "southern belle" is about being a trophy wife of a guy that loves you for your looks, buys you a vicorian house and "blesses" you with a bunch of children who'll have to do pageants? Also, church? God damn, the south IS full of rednecks.

Woah, there! Those are what you call stereotypes. Sure there are some Southern Belles that want to get married to a well-to-do man, raise several children and attend church everytime the doors are open, but that doesn't mean that all of them are that way! Hell, most of them are the exact opposite. We Southern women are strong, independent, self-sufficient, educated people who have the ability to positively impact our surroundings. And I personally find it offensive that you would talk about people you don't even know. And call us rednecks (when you use it like a derogatory statement). Thanks, but no thanks. I'm not a stereotype.

So, all of the admins have abandoned me. No one told me they were leaving, so this is a bit of a shock. I'm the only admin left on this blog and I barely get time to update my personal account much less update this one. I think that anon was referring to /post/4923265363 and would prefer it stated "university of alabama" and "auburn" (not "university of auburn"). Personally, I wouldn't bother to change it because I'm a UGA fan can't be bothered by petty war eagles ;) For the record, that was just a joke- not meant to be taken personally. On a serious note, if some on has the time to search through your archives and send rude critiques, they have bigger issues than most of your followers. Keep up the great work!

Hey! So after holding my tongue through all the reposting of random hate mail I'd like to say something (Notice I'm not asking anon). If y'all really didn't care about hte hate mail you'd address it one and then ignore it. Is it rude? Yes. Is it nonconstructive? Yup. But you can't let you get you down! This blog used to be one of my favorites, but it has turned into a negative defensive rant site. Just look at your FAQs over half are rude in and of themselves y'all are creating a circle of 1/2

Thank you for being honest without being mean. That's really all we're asking for, guys! :) As for the comment of not caring about hate mail, we do care about it. The reason I decided to stop posting/responding to hate mail was because I a) didn't want it clogging up the site and b) was tired of trying to combat it. That doesn't mean I don't care. Also, the FAQ wasn't compiled by us, it was done by the first admins.

Well I live in New York but my family is from South Carolina :) ~Carolyn

This is my first time on your blog and I read several pages of it before coming to the conclusion that the admins on here are not Southern Belles at all. As a Georgia girl, I know a true Southern Belle always takes criticism with grace and poise. The admins, however, are constantly rude to even the slightest criticism or remark that has any negative connotation whatsoever. I definitely won't be back.

I know I shouldn't even begin to broach this subject, but I'm going to- ONE LAST TIME. What people have been saying to us and about us is not in the least bit acting like a Southern Belle. I understand that it may be difficult for you all to understand, but we are real people. We have feelings, and we sometimes take things personally. This should in no way surprise you, but for some reason I guess it does. It's not just suggestions or comments. These are rude, spiteful, anonymous asks that are filled with demands and harsh criticisms. I am the first to admit that we should update more often. However, I do not believe that it is in any way appropriate for someone (let alone anonymously) to tell us that "you need to either update NOW because we want MORE SECRETS NOW" and "we HATE that font- STOP using it NOW and find something DIFFERENT." Honestly, it's all in the wording. There are ways to express your discontent other than the aforementioned style. Who wants to respond civilly to that? How is it fair that we are the first to get condemned and then when we assert ourselves (in the same style or better that was given to us) we are the ones struck down? Have you not read what those asks were? Please, look at things objectively before drawing conclusions. And I don't mean "reading several pages". Oh, and by your qualifications, I'm just as capable of deciding whether someone's a Southern Belle or not. No one's perfect- remember that.

In other news, thank you to all the wonderful Southern Belles who have been supportive, given healthy and constructive criticism, and submitted secrets! You guys are awesome! :)

Why do you call people who post anonymously grey blobs? You may have a legitimate reason, but it comes off a little demeaning and rude.

Why can't people post their complaints/comments on their real account? They may have a legitimate reason, but it comes off a little impersonal and demanding.

But seriously, why do you have to hate on anon or even at ALL? What makes it okay to attack someone and say rude things when those people are doing something for you? Most of the people that follow this blog are solely readers. Simply subscribing to a blog doesn't give you any right to talk to us in the way we get talked to. So if I say Grey Face (which I do) that's me being a whole heck of a lot nicer to you than you Anons are to me.

Dear Southern Belles, how important is a southern accent to you? I like to think I have all the qualities a southern belle would want. I'm a gentleman. I love my family. I'm a hard worker. I even drive a pick up! One problem - I was raised in Maryland. I never developed a proper accent. My dream girl is a southern belle. How important do you think the accent is on its own? What would a yankee have to do to get a real southern belle?

Hmm, good question.

I personally don't care about accents (Southern or not). Sure, I like the way it sounds (to a degree) but it is NOT a deciding factor in who I choose to date; there are much more important things. You sound like a stand-up guy and any Southern belle should be glad to date you! :)
