Jung Joonyoung are one of the male celebrities having found to be in the chatroom Seungri had. With the apology made by him, in signifies and cemented the allegation that Seungri had been selling/sharing pornographic material in which the female partner do not consent to.
What irks me the most, aside the fact of the immorality of the act, is the flimsy punishment that they’ll face, fewer than 3 years in jail and 30 million won. If further investigation leads to the victims saying they do not consent such footage, both Seungri and Joonyoung will face fewer than 7 years and again 30 million won.
Don’t think very lightly of the distribution of pornographic materials, especially when the victims doesn’t consent, and I’m going out of my way here to tell you that as fans, collectively, as a kpop fan; crime is crime. Don’t let his talents, looks, money, connections, etc, fabricate his immorality, his distorted mind and toxic masculinity, if you’re about creating better a world for yourself and those around you.
What’s worse, there is a list of male celebrities in that chatroom. Who finds intoxicated, unaware, vulnerable women to be an item of pleasure. Who trades this disgusting footage, names of women, drug them and have their way with them, and find the need to distribute them! What kind of monster… Disrespectful, spiteful, repulsive!
And this is happening, right now, in 2019, in the circle of the powerful influential youngsters. When we are endlessly fighting for women’s rights, equality… why didn’t those campaigns work? I’m not just afraid for myself, I’m afraid for the girls who are younger than me, and the boys who might be exposed to this before their age. About the apology, I’m here to say, that I think he’s sorry because he got caught. If they weren’t, it might be going on a lot longer and more women will fall to trap these pretty-faced predators made. We haven’t spoke about blackmailing, threats and shaming the victims…
Don’t turn a blind eye just because it’s not happening in your country, not the celebrity you supported, not your field of interest; that’s what the world had been doing to women’s rights, to us. It’s happening, so what are we going to do about it? Discuss
