more coil discourse actually: I hate it so much when people pin Balances death on sleazy. like it’s such a brain dead take 😭

there’s a lot of things to criticise sleazy for but like he 100% did not kill balance. His story to the police was accurate, and he always tried to help with Balances alcoholism (like sending him to rehab, locking up drinks). Everyone in the scene knew balance was an alcoholic and was about to die due to it (read England’s hidden reverse). Which brings me to the point why would sleazy bother killing balance if everyone knew he was an alcoholic on the verge of death 😭

if sleazy really wanted balance gone he literally just needed to wait. Therefore the idea that he would have gone to the effort of killing him is silly

industrial music lukewarm take

there’s a lot of discourse on if sleazy was a pedophile/child molester. A long of this discourse stems from him living with a lot of younger Thai men after balances death, (and the loves secret domain music video but I’m going to focus on the above). The age of the men is unconfirmed and I don’t think any of them have come out for certain, however sleazy himself says they were 18.

Now my lukewarm take: it doesn’t matter if they were of age or not, what he did was still kind of rapey. like, he was presumably living with the boys and I’m assuming paying them a wage. I also I’m assuming there was sex involved due to it already being evidenced that sleazy was attracted to younger Thai men (loves secret domain). this would mean the boys would intentionally or not be forced into performing sexual acts or risk losing their job/current place of residence. Which is extremely coercive. Especially considering they were a lot younger than sleazy. Sleazy had financial control over them. I’m not saying you can’t listen to coil. I listen to coil. But it does annoy me when any discourse about this only focuses on the boys age and not the fact from outside looking in, the situation sounds coercive no matter the age of the men.
