I think it’s safe to say this’ll be the only time it’s going to appear, for the sake of keeping these quick… :’D What was intended to be a sketch very quickly turned into a monster of a piece.

Not only is this fascinating, there are a lot of images from art history here. It just goes to show that what you can learn from the past isn’t limited to facts you can know, but things you can do.
My favorite part?
He learned this doing research for LARPs (Live Action Role Playing):
Lars Andersen originally started using bow and arrow to fight in pretend battles during Larps (live action role play) events, where he played a soldier in a medieval-inspired army. While Larps can be about anything – the Danish/Polish Harry Potter inspired larp College of Wizardry (cowlarp.com) recently got world-wide media attention and there wasn’t a rubber sword in sight there – many Larps take place in fantasy worlds inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. And it was at one of these Larps, that Lars started to learn to shoot fast while moving.
In 2012, Lars Andersen released his video, “Reinventing the fastest forgotten archery”, where he showed how he had learned to shoot from old archery manuscripts. Using these old, forgotten techniques, Lars demonstrated how he was now the fastest archer on the planet, and after its release, the video got 3 million hits on YouTube in two days.
Since the 2012 video was released, Lars has studied and practiced, and he is now able to fire three arrows in 0.6 seconds – a truly stunning feat making him much faster than the legendary fictional archer Legolas (played by Orlando Bloom in the Lord of the Rings movies).
The time benchmark he was trying to achieve, according to the video, was the expectation of the speed at which “Saracen” archers were expected to shoot. In fact, most of the source material as far as I can see isn’t European.
A lot of the techniques described are also used in Mongolian Archery, which requires being able to shoot from horseback, and is traditionally practiced by men and women. You can see a video here.

Warming up ahead of the NYE party (and all the sketches to go with it), I drew Trina in a number of BotW outfits and matching 2H weapons for a bit of fun. Really pleased with how they all came out too ~
Back From The (Re)Dead!

Pretty much every year I have run battle-frontier for, I've hosted a NYE Party -- But with BFOI more or less shut down, is there even gonna' be a party? THE ANSWER IS YES 8U Beyond the Great Sea is now the new host for the NYE Parties!
But of course, we're not about to just up and move to a dead group, nononononono! This means that BtGS is finally getting back on its feet after two long years and I couldn't be happier about it. The group itself is going to be tidied up approaching NYE, and a journal posted between Christmas and NYE detailing all the changes coming ahead, but for now, here's a quick and dirty rundown for you ~
DISCORD: • BtGS now has a Member Discord: https://discord.gg/8MjqVuk -- DA deleted the original BtGS chat, so we've moved onto a new platform.
NYE PARTY INFO: • NYE Party will be held in the BtGS Discord Dec 31st from 8pm EST (Toronto timezone) until I (taz) pass out. • Every person who attends will get a WW sketch of a character of their choice! The BtGS Admin will pretty much all be onboard for drawing, so no guarantees who draws you! • Existing/Returning BtGS Members will be awarded random spot prizes of Rupees and Items during the NYE party.
GENERAL GROUP INFO: Journal going up between Christmas & NYE detailing the following: • BtGS Frontpage will be getting cleaned up until we can afford SuperGroup status again. • Sometime on NYD (or the 2nd depending on alcohol consumption/hangovers lol) will see a new event and a new feature added to the group to ease people back in. The first actual story doesn't have a set date yet - We'll wait on member activity to get back to an excitable level before we throw you in the deep end. • The BtGS Tumblr is taking questions again, and we'll probably start posting more silly doodles or wips on there from time to time. • Weapons, Items, Magic, Economy -- All getting a full overhaul as Breath of the Wild gave us SO MUCH amazing stuff to work with. • No, sorry, Zora will not be added to the group. At least, not until the main story is complete - If we have enough membership/interest in a second story they will definitely show up there. • BtGS will be looking to add at least two, possibly more, Admin to the team -- Please wait until the group journal goes up before contacting us about a position, though! Anything sent early WILL be dismissed!
