Many times malls have a reputation for having very commercial or name brand items.
There are exceptions in the Avenues but as a shopper, you have to really search.
Natural Life had these awesome vintage blankets that are one-of-a-kind. They are from India and made using different fabrics and stitching techniques.
This might be a cool idea if you're searching for a gift that no one else will be getting your special someone.

Gazing out of a train that is traveling through the middle of the mall is not just a bizarre dream you wake-up from thinking "what the heck."
For many Avenues mall-goers it is a normal routine especially for those with small children.
The Avenues is home to a train that for a small fee will take passengers from one side of the mall to the other and back on the lower level.
I was lucky enough to talk to Ricky Conklin, or Mr. Ricky, a train conductor in the mall.

SB Custom Cruizers
Sticking with the theme of seasonal, new kiosk employees were more than happy to chat with me and tell about their product.
The first kiosk of the week was manned by Mike Lear of SB Custom Cruizers, a branch off SB Skate CO, in Jacksonville Beach.

Another seasonal booth in the Avenues is Best Gift Idea Ever. The company that formed in South Carolina may also be known as, “that cool store that’s in St. Augustine.”
This company has a few different locations one which is on St. George Street, a tourist must-go.
This kiosk sticks with the theme of customization and the pictures below show a few examples of the thousands or probably millions of combinations possible with BGIE letters.

It’s that time!
The Avenues is setting a holiday mood with decorations and themed music.
While strolling to Starbucks singing to “Santa Baby," I witnessed the hard work Simon Mall employees were putting in to get the mall in seasonal shape.
This Friday Nov. 8 Santa will arrive at the mall.
Above is the beginnings of the holiday themed set-up.
Word around the mall is that Santa will arrive on a helicopter and the event will be complete with fireworks and games.
In addition to the decorations and Santa , seasonal stands are a big part of the holidays for the mall.
Rivalry was in the air at the mall this weekend. The University of Florida Vs. Georgia game was the talk of most mall-goers on Saturday.
Even for stores that do not carry football themed clothing or accessories, the pig-skin spirit was alive with displays of items in each team’s colors.
Shopper Ashley Whistle was combing the orange and blue section of Francesca’s in search for the perfect outfit for that evening.
"I don’t like jerseys so I always put together combos that I can still wear after the game."
This weekend I stopped by the shop, Puppy Avenue. This shop sold dogs for hundreds to thousands of dollars. I've never gone into Puppy Avenue because I have always held true to the philosophy of "adopt, don't shop". I went into the store with an open mind and visited the puppies.
