there was NO NEED for the other man to apologize, there wasn’t a lot of time for them to talk and hadn’t been with the last couple of days. there was SO MUCH steve himself wanted to say, things he wanted the other to know, things he felt needed to be said. but was this the RIGHT TIME? eyes cast over the view, the water in front of him. time PASSES BY and the captains not sure what he can say, he’s know bucky for almost as long as he’s been alive and he knows the man’s going to keep apologizing NO MATTER what he says.

‘ it’s alright, buck. we’ll figure things out, we’ll GET THROUGH THIS. ’

“ y’ don’t KNOW that. ”

he wanted to be optimistic, but they started this with a whole team -- a team that might’ve stood a chance against the other WINTER SOLDIERS. but now that they’d been reduced to two, any outcome seemed utterly BLEAK, no matter what way bucky looked at it. sure, they were two highly skilled super soldiers -- but so were their targets, and steve and bucky were going in OUTNUMBERED.

it didn’t look good, and though bucky wasn’t afraid ( more NUMB than anything at this point ) he didn’t want to miss what might be his only opportunity to try to make things at least a little right. there was no way he could fix it all -- everything he’d done wrong -- but dammit, he needed to TRY.

“ wow. bad experiences with my kind, huh? ” well, if he’s not hiding his scorn, she’s definitely not hiding the sarcasm. thick with flat grief, she hangs on a thin horizontal pole like a monkey to a tree. left elbow rests upon the wall beside her while the other on her knee, opting to take off the mask comfortably. it’s only barnes and no one else, right? — did the identity thing still BUGher? “ it’s not like CAPTAIN AMERICA is very peachy, either. ”

“ depends -- would you consider getting kicked through glass and then getting webbed to the ground after falling a few stories a pleasant experience? ” he sticks his hands in the pockets of his jacket and leans back against the brick, though he keeps a watchful eye on her as she strips herself of the mask -- always better to be cautious, anyway, and as long as she doesn’t follow the other spider-punk’s example, they won’t have much of a problem.

Tony typed something on his Stark-pad when he suddenly heard a voice, interrupting him from his work. Great. Why did he agree again to let Bucky into the Tower? The billionaire sighed, rolling his eyes soon after as he heard the snarky comments. This guy.

“Good thing you have enough time to work on that, now. Right?” He made a face at the other male, raising an eyebrow. Tony was not amused. “You’re such a pain in the ass.”

“Sure, it’s just gonna look like a kindergartner wrote it for the foreseeable future. No big deal,” Bucky said in the same, neutral tone, sitting down in a chair opposite Stark. Although the attitude was deliberate, he was trying to at least appear somewhat non-threatening. He wasn’t there to start a fight.

“I’ve been a pain in the ass since before you were born,” he said, returning the other’s expression with a smirk, “You’re gonna have to do better than that.”
