GUILT TRIPPING is the easiest way for parents to blame their own mistakes on their children.
“When you’re born in a burning house, you think the whole world is on fire. But it’s not.”
— Richard Kadrey
I’d really appreciate it if my dad would stop depending on my existence to make him feel better
I am your child. I am NOT your therapist
I’m not, and should have NEVER been, obligated to call you or talk to you for you to be able to function
I’m 21 years old and you’ve been dependent on me ever since I was a toddler ( maybe younger! )
YOU are in your mid 50s, and you STILL “ need me “ to be able to have a good day
I wish that you would get a therapist and start working on yourself BY yourself, because this is BEYOND ridiculous
I don’t want you to be sad. I want you to be happy and functional and a better person than you are ( because this also goes beyond all the enmeshment/child neglect/manipulation/child abuse in general you’ve committed ).
But you need to STOP depending ON ME for YOUR HAPPINESS!
I'm going to hand my inner child a machete and tell her to go crazy go stoopid
I hate how parents will tell you how you don't do anything. How your own home isn't yours. How you're just useless and don't do nothing. You are just a guest in your own life. Yep, I know I'm a piece of shit. I know I'm nothing. I'm just done. I'll never be good enough. I'm not worth anything. It's fine. It's cool.
i think I'll never be able to have a normal and healthy relationship with anyone. maybe it's my fucked up brain and my twisted logic; I'll never believe someone genuinely wants nor loves me. it's impossible. I'm just an obligation. legally, emotionally or socially; I'm just the person they have to keep so gossips are avoided. this is not love, it never was. this is me confining you inside of my toxic environment
Do you play referee between your parents or you have normal families?
Something that people don't talk about enough is that when you're raised to be mature from a young age, your parents just become any other figure in your life and even if you have a seemingly peaceful relationship with them, there's absolutely no comfort you can find under their shade. You'll never get to be immature and childish and helpless with them because that dynamic was never set in the first place and all the validation you ever had from them was from parentification.
So even at your worst moments in life, you will be left alone with no place to seek refuge and you'll have to constantly find it in yourself to be strong enough to deal with everything alone.
no matter what i do, i'm never good enough for my parents
The WORST thing you can do is tell a person they aren't trying hard enough to a person who's gone way beyond themselves to try something
do you actually not like reciving gifts or did you just grow up being told how expensive it was to raise you?
and now, anytime anyone spends any money on you,you fell guilty
“you’re so quiet” bro it's literally so loud in my brain.
