Satisfying Collage Artist @ohfajar’s Hunger for Beauty
To see more of Fajar’s art, follow @ohfajar on Instagram.
As a child, all Fajar Domingo (@ohfajar) needed was his aunt and sisters’ magazines, scissors and glue. “I started making my own world,” says Fajar, who lives in Jakarta, Indonesia. Today, he still makes collages — now for a much bigger audience. “I have a way to satisfy my hungry soul for beauty,” the graphic designer says. Recently, the creative director at Gucci (@gucci), Alessandro Michele, selected Fajar to participate in their second #GucciGram campaign, for which 25 artists were asked to rework a new Gucci pattern in their own style. “I was inspired by the ancient and natural references in the new pattern,” says Fajar, whose take was both quirky and surreal. “I made the image with a woman knitting a garden pattern, celebrating the exquisite Mother Earth.”
