phhhuu! january finally ended and with that, i'm back here too \o/ sobs i probably missed out on so much;;; but i'm gonna try to catch up with everything, message those i had threads with & follow all the newbies (to you: welcome to rookies!!!) i'll also be revamping sso a little bit, just to make her more interesting (for me), so please bear with me ;3;

okay so first of all I AM REALLY SORRY that i disappeared for so long sobs ;3; holidays were pretty hasty and i was also struggling with my muse but i'm back againnnn. my question is for those i'm having event-related threads with: since they ended already, please like this post if you want to continue them. if not, we can just start a new thread with more actuality! ;^;

Yuji laughs merrily at the girl’s response. “I am the oldest and therefore I am the one who provides the privileges of friendship!” She brings her hand up to Soyeon’s head and ruffles the girl’s hair fondly. Soyeon’s cute attitude always draws a smile to the older girl’s lips even the atmosphere between them varies between dramatic to the absolutely ridiculous. “But yes… alright, I’ll admit to a smidgeon of gratefulness for all you do for me even when as your unnie I should be granted close to goddess status in your eyes! Therefore, I must ask—as my goddess right—what are you getting me? Hmm?”
The young woman makes herself comfortable on the needleless space and leaned her head back against the sofa’s back. She’d been busier than usual with running the boarding house and it frustrates Yuji to be kept away from her other musical pursuits in favor of domestic ones. Sure, she needed the money gained to pay for the rest of her schooling but that doesn’t mean she appreciates being called to watch over six tenants like they were her personal children. “Soyeon-ah… it’s been a long time since I’ve relaxed like this. It must be nice to have just one roommate instead of six of them. I want to stay here instead.”
she flashes a somewhat unamused expression at her friend after she's put back into her place and focusing her attention on her knitting, she just simply shrugs. "yeah, sure, goddess, whatever..." she waves a hand dismissively, making her preoccupiedness show very obviously as a way of teasing the older; she knows she's right, to an extent (well, she obviously isn't a goddess, hah! soyeon doesn't doubt yuji would like that, though. but the point is that yuji is older than her and therefore she has the advantage; but soyeon wouldn't be soyeon if she let her actually abuse that advantage, if she wanted to. luckily, yuji isn't really that type.) "mhm, what am i getting you? oh, yeah, what was it again..." she trails off, murmuring mostly to herself and pretending to be a clueless newborn sheep, pushing it further.
when yuji starts speaking again, for a while, she acts as if she wasn't listening; but the facade shatters soon enough soyeon hears the word "six" and she almost drops her needles. "darn, i always forget how many people you're living with..." she wonders out loud and then lets out a soft chuckle. "i still can't imagine. not that i have to take care of my roommate or anything but i loved living alone. i'm lucky because me and boram managed to get close and all but i definitely wouldn't want anyone else." then she looks up, plastering her eyes at yuji's face. "it must be sucks for you."

{ —- it felt as for a while, soyeon simply stood there staring at the plushie for quite a while, the expression on her figure changing from a smile to some sort of frown on a repeated process which only resulted with the petite female to chuckle slightly at her, though, she could still feel how much disappointed the other was and that she was somewhat pissed off at her for the simple reason that ebony was good at carnival’s games. walking away from the game’s stand, the orange-haired pulled her roommate by the hand, a soft and happy sigh escaping from her lips.she was trying to think of an idea that could bring back a sincere smile to her friend’s face, and then, the best idea popped out into her mind.} Soyeon, would you mind waiting for me here? Just a couple of minutes, I’ll be right back! { —- letting go of the female’s, she offered her another smile, not even letting her the time to react or talk before walking away, she sure had a great idea.}
[ / -- she isn't quite amused by the fact that the other is laughing at her; but she tries to hide it, dropping the immature attitude as much as possible, as if she could turn the tables around and become the winner this way -- as if this was some sort of smaller battle between them, but no, just because she's able to endure losing the games in a mature way does not make her a winner, no matter what point of view we're looking at things. she sighs, letting ebony drag her along as she holds onto her hand unitl they stop and her friend faces her. she squints after hearing her words; an eyebrow rising in a questionable manner. ] uh, sure? where are you going? hey-- hey! [ / -- she reaches after her quickly disappearing friend, a look of genuine surprise and cluelessness evident upon her face. amazing. now she has to stay here and stick around and wait for god knows how long. isn't this day just great? ]

Upon entering the room, there is a small pack of cookies with a note reading their name sitting on the piano cover, the note attached to it reading:

by the time soyeon enters, there isn’t a soul to be found; she doesn’t even notice what had been laid on the piano cover when she sits down by the instrument, a puff of air as a sigh escaping her. only when she looks up again does she spot the pack of cookies (seriously, how did she not notice?!) and the note reading her name and her eyes sparkle upon the sight. she quickly runs through the note with her eyes and it causes a smile to widen her lips. “ah, ssongji… how adorable… how thoughtful…” she murmurs to herself before she takes the pack to open it and starts nomming on one of the cookies happily.

{ —- it would be such a lie to say soyeon was good at those kind of game, and sincerely, the whole situation was amusing the petite female. they have played to at least four games already, and ebony won them all, leaving soyeon with so much disappointment in herself, oh well that was what the guitarist seemed to see while watching the other female : disappointment and anger.} Me? cheating?! Why would I cheat on such worthless game!? Yah, Soyeon, don’t blame me because you aren’t good at these! { —- glaring at the female beside herself, the orange-haired grabbed the plushie she just won, shrugging her shoulders before letting out a sigh, and instead of keeping it to herself, she placed it into soyeon’s hands.} Here take this plushie, and stop complaining, I’m sure you’ll find a game you are good at— so shush.
[ / -- soyeon snorts, staring at her friend with the same passionate anger in her eyes. ] then why can't we do something else! these games are just pissing me off and you are pissing me off with your talent at them and... [ / -- she shuts herself up; and curls her lips into a pout instead, seeming like a six-year-old child whose toy has been just taken away. she sighs, mostly to herself but it's a deep and long one and it's filled with all her disappointment. she looks away; she doesn't want to see the look on ebony's seemingly disinterested face when suddenly there's a plushie placed in her hands. ] what? [ / -- she lifts her head, raising an eyebrow as she looks at ebony and-- well, she is happy that she was given the plushie, but it doesn't change the fact that ebony is good at these games and she is not so after there's a smile lighting up her face it's quickly replaced by a hurt frown and then a smile again and the process keeps being repeated for almost a minute before she just lets out another exasperated sigh. ] thank you. ... now can we do something else?

Amber thinks its endearing that the girl is hesitant to accept, and grins brightly at her. “No, seriously, it’s okay, I want you to have it. I can always win another, I’m really good at this game.” She chuckles.
When the girl speaks her name, Amber’s brows furrow as she scans the other girl over, trying to figure out where she knows her from. Then it hits her, and her heart drops to her stomach with a painful thud. “S-Soyeon?!” The short haired girl stutters.
She quickly puts a smile on her face and laughs. “Wow, what a small world, huh?” Everything’s flashing back to her, and she has to force herself to swallow so she can relieve the dryness in her throat. “Now, you have to take the bear! I know how much you love polar bears.” She chuckles. Amber really hopes she doesn’t sound awkward, cause she worked so hard to make sure they separated on a good note, and she doesn’t need her feelings to almost ruin a friendship a second time. Her fingers subconsciously squeeze the bear in her arms as she flounders for a way to save herself from embarrassing herself and Soyeon.
"Um, how have you been?" Amber blurts out. "I haven’t seen you since the summer, and who would have thought we’d meet again in Korea?" All of her sentences have ended in awkward laughter and shit she’s rambling.
she’s speechless. really, she is; a stranger (who’s not really a stranger; but it doesn’t seem like amber had recognized her at first glance which means that she was indeed willing to give her prize to a random girl at the market) is just about to hand out one of the biggest prizes of this game over to her because she’s so much of a loser that she can’t win it for herself.
besides that, though – soyeon can’t say that she isn’t happy. she’s practically gleaming, beaming at amber with a grin so wide it’s a surprise her mouth hasn’t ripped yet. “thank you so much! i owe you a lunch at least.”
it’s somewhat funny, how amber reacts once she recognizes her as well, and soyeon can’t help the small smirk hiding in the corners of her lips as she watches her old friend’s expression morph from surprised into something… less pleasant. and soyeon doesn’t quite understand it; is she not happy to see her again? it’s been a while now that they had last met (last summer? the summer before? she can’t remember exactly) but she never believed that they had parted on bad terms. is soyeon just imagining things?
she must be; she concludes as she notices how quickly that look disappears and is replaced by a smile followed by a laugh and that comforts her. okay, good. she’s been overthinking again. will she ever stop this habit? there’s a dry laughter ringing in her mind along with a bitter taste in her mouth but she doesn’t let any of that show. “yeah, i do love polar bears, heh… thank you again!” she flashes a wide grin and if amber lets her take the bear, she hugs it so tightly that the end of her fingers turn just a bit paler (thank god she can’t suffocate a plushie). she buries her face in the soft, fluffy material it was made of and then peeks out from behind, planting her eyes on amber once again.
“i’ve been good!” she nods, and the words are true; she’s been enjoying living in korea for the majority of time and although sometimes things were a bit tough because she obviously couldn’t depend on her parents’ financial support anymore (therefore there were times when she had to get by eating only one or two buns – thankfully not anymore), living here was indeed really nice. “i know right? the world is so small! what are you doing here anyway?”

Kiseop leaned over to follow the direction of her finger and a smile grew on his lips as he stood and nodded. “I think they’ll do perfectly. After all, the point of a dance is not to be taking pictures but spending time with friends and the person you take with you, right?” His eyes sparkled with a playful glint and he gave her just a tiny wink. He knew how Soyeon felt about selfies, even though they both took them, of course. He agreed that it was really silly when people just couldn’t go anywhere without taking what seemed like a thousand selfies.
He looked down at her when she turned and made a thoughtful expression before smiling and nodding. “Yes, a photobomb sounds just about perfect for this. How should we bomb this one?” He chuckled quietly, thinking of all the times that they had been able to catch someone taking a selfie or group picture and bombed it at just the right time. He was thankful that Soyeon had accepted his invitation to the dance, as he couldn’t really have asked another girl without most likely being too shy or awkward to even enjoy the dance. With Soyeon, he could hang out with her and enjoy the dance even if she picked on him a little for it being his first one. Another thing he was grateful for was the friendship he had with her, she was one of the few girls he could be comfortable with without getting flustered at small things. He knew that their relationship seemed closer than what they really were, and it helped for how they liked to play pranks on people, but there was always the question that some people had about just what was between them.
What had surprised Kiseop was that from the time he had asked her to the day of the dance, she had teased him almost endlessly, but it made him smile the whole time, and despite all her teasing, she changed completely when they arrived at the dance. Despite his surprise, he smiled and enjoyed seeing her like this, making it seem like it was her first dance as well, which made it seem even more fun. Of course, that shyness didn’t last long and he was soon plotting out the best pranks with her, his smile never leaving his face.
Some of the students were surprised to see how comfortable he was with her if they had never seen the two together before, but he didn’t pay much attention to the others around them.

soyeon nods enthusiastically along to kiseop’s words, expressing her agreement. “definitely! taking photos is a must but these two have been doing nothing but that for about twenty minutes now. did you also see them already doing this when we went to get some punch before? madness!” she widens her eyes, placing her palm on her heart in an overly dramatic manner before she lets an amused chuckle roll off her tongue. squinting her eyes at the couple (who were trying to take the perfect kissing selca at the moment, but they seemed to fail each time – either that or they just really craved each other’s lips, but in that case soyeon thinks they’d be better off just putting that phone away and make out instead, hah! teenagers!) as she’s trying real hard to come up with a way to ruin (or from her point of view, spice up) the lovebirds’ selfies.
“hm, hm, hm. we could always do the thing with the peace sign right behind their heads but that’s so mainstream,” she ponders out loud, head rocking from side to side. “how about making a reaaaally creepy face?” she turns to kiseop, pulling her features into a rather absurd grimace that’s half-hilarious half-morbid as a demonstration; bursting into laughter once her face returns to its normal state. “oh mon dieu, imagine their faces when they look at the result!”
she’s obviously had way too much fun with this. she knows they can’t keep doing this forever and honestly, she really wanted to dance by now (she doesn’t admit, but there’s been some warmth along with the few glasses of punch she had drunk although it’s not even supposed to contain alcohol; but if things here are like back in canada, then she does know that when teachers say the punch will be completely alcohol-free, they aren’t always saying the exact truth), but they need to do this. soyeon just hopes that the couple wouldn’t stop now (is that even an option? considering for how long they have been taking photos, it seems like an impossibility) so that they could pull off another great prank.
“so? what should we do? for some reason i can’t stop remembering that scene from the movie ‘grease’ in which the guys pulled off their pants in front of the camera at the end of the dance night,” soyeon adds the unnecessary, but (in her opinion) hilarious side-info and although she would never do that (it’s not that she doesn’t have a nice butt; it’s actually one of her body parts she likes), she still can’t stop imagining the what ifs.

“how about them?” soyeon asks, her finger pointing at a young couple who are right in the middle of taking selfies; a habit teenagers of this generation made into an everyday hobby and something soyeon has always found somewhat amusing. although she liked taking pictures of herself just like everyone else in her generation, that didn’t keep her from thinking that it could be ridiculous, especially when some people thought that they just had to take selfies literally everywhere; only to prove that they had been there. which was, totally cool, of course, but soyeon simply couldn’t see why anyone would want to take them in the weirdest places… in a library?! while driving?! in a hospital?! soyeon has seen examples for all these before. some people always go overboard with everything.
“should we photobomb?” she blinks, turning to face kiseop; her friend who had invited her to seoul high’s dance night (something soyeon was extremely thankful for, honestly; it’s been years since she was on a proper prom-like night and to be able to relive the experience, it was something she didn’t want to miss out), which kind of surprised her at first, to be honest. they were never romantically involved, albeit soyeon admitted that sometimes it did look like they were; these two were super close and shared a somewhat experimental-type of relationship. considering that both of them were kind of inexperienced in the area and the plus that kiseop seemed to feel more comfortable around soyeon than the majority of other girls, they could act like there was something going on without it ever becoming awkward – and that was something soyeon treasured a lot because she certainly didn’t have that with a lot of people. it was an interesting bond, between her and kiseop and no one could deny that.
so when kiseop came up with the idea of him taking soyeon to the dance night, she honestly didn’t hesitate much. it amused her to an extent, because he was sort of shy about it; soyeon knew it was his very first dance yet in spite of that she kept mocking him in a completely innocent manner. that was until they arrived to the actual event, though; all the courage and experience soyeon had stored inside her basically vanished the moment they stepped into the school’s building and she turned into the same fresh high school girl she was at her very first prom back in canada.
one couldn’t feel shy next to someone they were as close as soyeon was with kiseop, however, and they soon found the best way to keep themselves entertained (it totally suited them, too. like, totally.): playing pranks on other students, especially couples. the dance could wait.
