that was it. nothing else could be done. it was over.

she was forever gone.

amber watched from afar, the black hat covering her blonde locks and shielding her expression from the world. it’s better this way. she’s happy now. with somebody else, but happy. that’s what matters in the end, right?

but god, how amber wished she was the one soyeon was walking down the aisle for.

the girl’s dark hair contrasted with the white dress and the bright red lips. she looked like snow white, the fairest of them all. and her smile – it hurt, more than anything, to see her smiling like that. it was a smile amber didn’t know; a smile only kiseop knew. her prince, she’d said, countless times. “i’m marrying a prince!”, she’d exclaimed, as happy as could be, right before asking her best friend to be the maid of honor.

at first, amber thought she could handle it. she’d held back all those years; why couldn’t she ignore her own heartache through this as well? as the months passed, however, the situation proved itself unbearable. more and more, it became painful to so much as catch a glimpse of soyeon around the corner. after all details had been arranged and her presence wasn’t necessary anymore, she’d started making up excuses after excuses; she’d missed the bridal shower, and only stayed long enough at the rehearsal dinner to give her short and heartless speech before retreating back to the shadows. she couldn’t do it, after all. she couldn’t simply stay put as her happiness was dragged away from her.

not that it really mattered. soyeon was happy; that was the only thing that mattered.

amber followed soyeon’s pace towards the groom with sad eyes. it felt like torture, like time had slowed down on purpose to prolong her suffering. it ended, after what seemed like at least three centuries of unstoppable hurt – there she was, then, more beautiful than ever, showing off that unknown smile as she took the prince’s hand into her royal fingers. with one last glance at the happy couple, amber turned her back on then and left. she was off to a wonderful new life.

amber wanted that too. she wanted to be happy. with soyeon. but it didn’t matter – it never mattered.

because her first and only love was marrying someone else.

but i never want to see you unhappy

{ A near-future AU for Donghyuk’s mun ! { Merry Christmas~!

The tiny (cozy, the owners always insisted) restaurant was bustling, customers flocking in and out in a flurry of reds and whites and sequins and lights, hair flecked by the first flakes of an oncoming snowfall that would likely make Donghyuk’s job just that much more difficult. The signs of the holiday season were undeniable, Christmas music in more than one language spilling pleasantly out of the dated boombox on the counter, the lights framing the storefront window blinking in every color imaginable, couples and families and workers either beaming or flustered with the busy atmosphere of last minute holiday shopping, undeniably desperate for a quick and painless meal that required little effort on their part, or else it was unlikely they’d be spending the twenty-third day of Christmas at a chicken shop.

He was halfway through his break, having skipped his first one of the day so he could use it now; the extra fifteen minutes meant he’d get to catch M!Countdown right when he needed to. He’d timed it perfectly, because, even though it was one of the busiest times of the year, especially for deliveries, there was no way he was going to miss this. He’d set himself at his perch, one of the small square tables near the counter, a perfect vantage point for the modest flat screen fastened to the wall.

“I’m on break~” he called to whoever was looking for him in the kitchen, eyes already glued to the screen. They were a third of the way through the lineup by now, Sphere’s latest girl group finishing up their new single, and as the familiar faces flashed across the screen, announcing the next group’s debut performance, he found himself on the edge of his seat in anticipation.

“I know them,” he announced to whoever happened to be standing nearby (a young couple and a group of middle school aged boys, none of who seemed impressed), a proud grin already stretched across his face. But his attention was returned in full to the screen when the song started, and he couldn’t help but move along to the song, mouthing the words as he watched his friends, Bobby and Hanbin and Junhoe, and their groupmates performing their debut single on their second ever live stage. He could tell they were less nervous than they’d been before, moving around the stage, transitioning between verses and choruses, between formations, as if they’d been doing it all their lives. TRC certainly didn’t disappoint, and neither did the newly debuted half of the Noodle Squad. He could only hope, after receiving news from his most recent audition, that the company would do the same for him.

He’d tried his best to keep it a secret, to surprise his friends with the news at an opportune moment (via Skype or Facetime now that three of them were too busy being ferried from schedule to schedule to meet in person), but he’d blurted it out almost immediately after he’d ended the phone call with the TRC representative that contacted him to let him know he’d been offered a contract. They all vowed to celebrate, what, with Jinhwan starting at Royal, and Yunhyeong checking off one year at Nova, and Chanwoo waiting to hear back from TRC himself, but it was safe to assume the tiny gaps in their schedules would likely never overlap. Two and a half years it’d been since they’d all been able to meet in person as a group. And yeah, maybe he’d been counting. But he could not deny that their mutual success was wonderful, despite the fact that it seemed to be slowly dragging them apart.

The stage ended almost too quickly for Donghyuk’s taste, and Son Dam Bi took the stage next, signaling the end of his break. So he grabbed his keys and slung the pair of well-stuffed bags over his arms, committing the addresses on the receipt to memory before stuffing it into his pocket and heading out for the last delivery of the night.

The first delivery took a little longer than expected, considering the holiday traffic and the weather, and the six flights of stairs he had to scale due to a broken elevator. It wasn’t until about an hour later that he was on route to his next destination. He should’ve known there was a legitimate reason why the second address seemed so vaguely familiar, triggering the awakening of an elusive memory the same way a sudden whiff of a familiar smell did. But it never dawned on him; he didn’t even put two and two together until he knocked on the customer’s door and it swung open to reveal six familiar faces shouting “SURPRISE” and pulling confetti poppers in dangerous proximity to his face.

The words scrawled across the banner hung haphazardly across the living room resembled something sort of close to “Congratulations!” with his own name scribbled in bright marker next to Jinhwan’s and Yunhyeong’s underneath, and the bags of chicken he came to deliver were carefully pried from his hands so he could be effectively bombarded by the tackling hugs of his friends.

They were all there, the entire crew, and he wasn’t sure how it was possible, but he didn’t think to question it past the still-remaining smudges of stage makeup on their faces.

“You guys are insane,” he remarked breathlessly, through a wonderful bright smile.

And in response, Hanbin slung an arm over his shoulder, grinning just as brightly despite how exhausted he must have been.

“We figured it was about time the Noodle Squad got back together. Merry Christmas, bro.”

Donghyuk couldn’t think of a better Christmas present in the entire world.

Let them Eat Cake | Myungyeol, a drabble

"I’m coming!" Sungyeol waddled down the hall decked out in an apron and a chef’s hat. " Here!" He took the other hat in his had and patted it down upon Myungsoo’s head. "Are you ready to teach me the ways of the Yule log?" 

"I can’t believe you!" Myungsoo wasn’t angry, but his voice didn’t convey happiness either. Sungyeol chuckled lightly and shook his head, "I didn’t do anything! I swear! Are you okay?" He attempted to slowly move toward Myung, but his efforts were fruitless. The slick floor lead him to fall into Myungsoo; it would have been a disaster had the other not put his hands out to catch him. "What am I going to do about this cake?"  Sungyeol shrugged playfully; they both tried to again to get up to no avail. Rather they ended up slipping around on the mess of egg and frosting coating the floor. Myungsoo groaned frustrated as Sungyeol wrapped his arms around him tightly. “What cake? We don’t need any cake~” Myungsoo squirmed relentlessly in his grip, ” What about that thing in the oven.” The rolled around in the mess, Sungyeol had a clear plan. “You can forget about it.” They rolled towards the kitchen table. "Forget about it? I can’t forget abo—" Sungyeol leaned into Myung’s face making him stop mid-sentence. "Hey look~ Mistletoe." Myungsoo could feel Sungyeol’s breath across his lips; he widened his eyes holding his own breath and — twack. The frosting covered spatula met with his peck. Sungyeol lowered his head in defeat and Myungsoo wriggled out from underneath him; spatula in hand. "The cake is going to burn~"

even if you’re ahead for a bit, i will catch up aka the au where luhan loves the chase and boah loves the game

they walk down the train tracks, side by side. the natural sway of their bodies allow for accidental brushes of the arms and shoulders, and the sun shines on them in a way that makes them both look ethereal.

but luhan’s always thought boah looked like an angel.

he doesn’t say that, though, as the warmth that surrounds them causes him to push his sleeves up to his elbows (and maybe it’s a little bit of the girl who walks beside him).

"will you stop bumping into me!"

luhan tears his eyes away from the way her fingers tuck her blonde hair behind her ear to flash her a toothy grin, that same twinkle of mischief in his eyes. “lăoshī, are you sure you’re not the one bumping into me? i mean, you’ve got such strong shoulders…”

this earns him a shove that sends him stepping off the side of the tracks he’s balancing on, and laughter spills from his lips. shamelessly, he gets right back on the tracks, purposely bumping his shoulder against hers this time as his hand reaches out, and in one swift motion, intertwines their fingers.

"well, will you look at that," he says as if every move of his isn’t orchestrated.

she tugs her hand away but luhan tightens his grip, pulling her toward him. she huffs but makes no other move to pull away. instead, she opens her mouth, chides him verbally, but luhan grins through it all, as if he’s planned it all along.

"why do you insist on doing this?" she asks, holds up their entangled fingers.

"hm?" luhan responds, eyes looking up toward the sky, acting as if he’s preoccupied. he looks down at her, grin pulling at his pursed lips. "oh, this?" he then mimics her actions and holds their hands up. "you were the one who bumped into me, remember?"

she clicks her tongue, shoves him again, but this time he tugs, pulls her along with him and into his arms. then he sneaks a kiss on her forehead just before being forcefully shoved away. laughter fills the air even as he stumbles into some bushes, its prickly branches poking at his back. she continues on down the track as he brushes leaves off his pant legs before using long, quick strides to catch up.

"i’ll always catch up to you," he whispers as he comes up behind her, then passes her.

"and i’ll never make it easy for you."

her imminent response causes another bout of laughter to spring forth from his lips. he turns around, grins at her as he takes steps backward so the distance between them remains the same even as they move continue down the track.

"i wouldn’t have it any other way."

Kiseop hummed softly as he set everything up, the avengers pillow and blanket on the couch, the presents for her wrapped in avengers wrapping paper even. He hadn’t really known what to get for her, but he figured a safe bet was to watch the avengers movies, and gift her with candies and Sphere groups’ minis as well as photobooks that he could get his hands on. He checked his phone and started the fire, then went to the kitchen and checked the cookies he had been baking, taking them out and letting them cool before texting to see where she was.

A short time later, she replied, saying she was on her way and he headed outside, looking around for her taxi as the snow fell quietly around him. When he saw her taxi, he smiled brightly and waved, hugging his arms to himself as he went down the steps and paid the driver, despite her protests. He smiled and held out his arm, letting her hold onto it as he led her inside.

He led her into the living room and grinned at her reaction to the avengers blanket and pillow as well as the wrapped presents, along with the avengers’ menu waiting for the movie to played on the screen. “I was thinking maybe an avengers mini marathon, with cookies and a little cuddling if you like, and presents? I wasn’t really sure what you would want, so I just kind of put this together.” He smiled sheepishly and then chuckled as she ran over and immediately jumped on the couch to curl up in the blanket and look up at him.

Kiseop smiled and walked to the couch, filling the empty space she had left between her and the pillow and she immediately curled up against him and pulled the pillow over as he started the movie and then moved the cookies from the end table. He smiled and watched as she got comfortable, humming as he held a cookie up for her to eat, which she accepted happily and he played with her hair gently.

When the first movie was over, he chuckled and tapped her side, but she was wide awake, just completely relaxed as she cuddled with him. “Let me get your presents while I change the movie to the next one?” He smiled and stood as she sat up and stretched. He walked over and got the presents, handing them to her. “Go ahead and open them.”

He turned again and changed the movie, chuckling softly at each gasp that he heard before turning around and hoping that he would see the bright smile he hoped for on her lips before moving back to his spot on the couch to watch the second movie, just wanting to make this a good Christmas present for her, even if he was just going on a whim and small suggestions.

"I hope you like everything. I kind of heard that you like Sphere and the Avengers…so, yeah." He smiled sheepishly and glanced down at her as they watched the movie and he gave her another cookie.

hello, hello! yes, it’s me — your secret santa! aka jeongguk’s mun; aka nate. first of all, i wish you and your family a happy, happy christmas and wonderful christmas days! may you always smile and be happy! i know we have never interacted before ( and i think we failed to plot on daeyhun ), but i’d love to get a plot started with you in the near future, mainly because your muse seems very interesting and a fun guy to be around.
