a lot of you are mad at me and im not sure why at this point
i think my wording may have been unclear so let me try again:
trans men are trans. yes, theyre men, too, but we need to work together with our fellow trans to fight transphobia. (and cis people need to help too, but "the patriarchy hurts everyone actually" is not something im up for arguing right now)
and we trans need to work with cis queers to fight queerphobia.
and us (white) queers need to work with poc, disabled people, etc, all the other groups to fight the systemic problems that hurt people, even if those people are different from us.
it is only through working together, as a larger collective class consciousness, that we have a big enough force to actually fight the biggest enemies that are the root of all of our individual struggles: capitalism, colonialism, and the state.
and all along the way, all of us need to identify and root out the racism, transphobia, ableism, etc so that we can live by example and work together as a class more cohesively.
working together to better ourselves and fight to help others even when the issue in question doesnt immediately help us like this is called *intersectionalism*, and it is good.
i do not see intersectionalism when i am on tumblr. what i see is a childish slapfight between trans women and trans men with enbies caught in the middle. i do not call it childish to diminish abuse; bad actors must be called out and dealt with. i call it childish because what i see is trans women posting about how trans men are bad and abusive and that we need to separate from them and fight for ourselves. this is disgusting and repulsive and a rejection of intersectional unity.
i fully believe that trans men have done bad things to some of you. that is serious and should be handled with the greatest respect to those directly affected. but it does not say anything about trans men as a group, and this demonizing of those we should ally with in good faith unless they individually show otherwise is absolute bullshit.
yes, trans men are also men. men suck. the patriarchy is bad and being allies with men has its risks and challenges. but dont forget that most transfem separatists are white, and we white people are an oppressor class, too. should the poc among transfems reject you because some transfems are racist? i think not. youre not the perfect holotype of oppression you think you are.
i was glib and aggressive in my earlier posts because i am so, so sick of this fight after going through this same fight on the fediverse. i am an administrator over there and the large majority of queer instances have defederated transfem separatist instances for the constant harassment they direct toward other trans people. systemically harassing (a subset of) trans people for their (subset of) transness is (some flavor of) transphobia, and we ban it accordingly.
we do not see the reverse happening *at all*. i believe you that it happens here and im just not seeing it, but i genuinely doubt that trans men as a group are disproportionately misogynistic compared to men as a whole.
frankly, this separatist movement is embarrassing. if we want to actually make change as leftists, we have to actually care about the well being of others. and i dont know how to teach you to do that.
