Episode 3: Megan Cook on Chaucer, Weird Spelling, and the Long History of GG
Pilgrim portrait of the Monk from CUL MS Gg.4.27.1
In Episode 3 of Inside My Favorite Manuscript, Dot sits down with Megan Cook, professor of English and book historian, to talk about Cambridge, University Library MS Gg.4.27.1. GG (as Megan affectionately calls it) is an early effort to bring together Chaucer’s major works outside of London, the writing might indicate something interesting about the person who wrote it, and it had a long and interesting history after it was written around 1425.

🎉🎉🎉NEW EPISODE JUST DROPPED🎉🎉🎉
Sag season has been a fucking shit show. Mars retrograde having its peak moment and I'm a very mutable person. My life is falling apart and I feel powerless to stop it.
I'm watching a flood rise up and burst through the door. And I'm not on the second story.
Of note: you don't have to censor the words patreon, algorithm, link, or other such phrases because Tumblr doesn't have an algorithm that decides whether your post lives or dies. You are free here! Tumblr isn't going to eat your post because it's for your patreon or gofundme unlike some other less nuanced platforms. Hope this helps

Tumblr's prominent memes being about shoes ("I like your shoelaces", Goncharov boots) is a brilliant showcase of Tumblr's Mercury in Pisces. In this essay I will
Turns out when I make social media for anything astrology, Aquarius just ends up being a feature. I totally forgot the date I elected for this tumblr but I found it and big surprise, the chart ruler is in Aquarius. Maybe it's my Lot of Spirit in Aquarius showing up.
I briefly mentioned this on twitter but I think on tumblr this is actually more relevant, the reason being I often see new age ideas rightfully called out for branching out into fascism.
I often see the "divine feminine/masculine" types of witchcraft singled out for being a gateway to fascism. I agree that this type of practice is indeed a gateway to fascism. However, there are many occult paths that are easy gateways to fascism and I rarely see them called out to the same degree. Even worse, these paths tend to look more legitimate than a lot of the woo ideas that branch into fascism.
It's really just worth being vigilant and worth calling out. We've seen some prominent occult practitioners fall head over heels into conspirituality and white supremacy. It's easy to see fascism in new age types of philosophies but harder to see how fascism embeds itself in other occult branches (Thelema, chaos magic, etc.).
So let's start here: I never left tumblr. I did however create myself a nice new astrology blog separate from the old one, separate from old ideologies and a self I've outgrown.
I'm nebula, I'm 31 years old, and I've been into astrology sice I was 16. I don't have much to show for it but I am educated purely from books and podcasts - "self-educated" as it were. I still had teachers, they just never taught me directly.
I created this blog last year before twitter being bought out was ever even a talking point. I just happen to like tumblr as a platform and figured I could convert this into its own domain as I've seen some people do. I'm not sure if that's the plan anymore. Another thing I'll figure out.
We'll start here. I am an astrologer, unless you're one of those people who think you're worthy of that title only if you happen to be practicing. As it stands, I am non-practicing. I call myself an astrologer regardless.
I love to write and I love astrology. In the last year or so I've delved more into tarot which I am connecting into my astrology practice. More to write about, more to analyze.
I like being good at something and I've always been good at analysis. I love the sky and I love the stars and they're a part of us (blah blah we're all star stuff). Combining the sky with analysis and you get astrology. I also love a good puzzle and what is astrology if not the giant puzzle in the sky?
So this blog is here. I'm here. I prefer this to Twitter - I don't do well with shortform content. Hopefully I'll create something worth reading.
