Of course omg I could talk about Orange all day! (Not to be annoying but lil reminder! They/them for all crewmates!)
Here’s a little doodle of my full design of them! Sometimes I skimp out on some of the details like the backpack straps… but usually most of it is here… talking under cut!
I mostly took inspiration from tarantulas and foxes for their imposter “form” (similarly to how I use squids/worms for Green’s) and it kinda bled into the crewmate version too lol. Their feet and big ass butt tail thing are supposed to resemble tarantulas. hair is shaped like pincer thingys or fangs, and the neck fluff comes from foxes!
Fox because they’re orange obviously, but also known for being stereotypical two-faced mischievous liars and such. Plus they’re in the CANINE FAMILY 🔥🔥 and dogs are known for being loyal! You know who else is loyal that’s right Orange is with Mira Booyah
Tarantulas bc they’re known for being evil and setting traps I guess mostly just cause I like them
Okok moving past my design for them, here’s some headcanons about personality/backstory:
They were RAISED by Mira! I really really am in love with the idea that the ideology started young, to the point it’s almost cultlike. Connected to my broader headcanons about how all crewmates are sort of “produced” in a lab, so Mira controls birth rates and sort of hands out/sells babies to crewmates all over. They can’t biologically reproduce on their own! — so coming from that, I figure Mira “keeps” some of them to raise as workers for themselves and orange is one of em!
Types using a lot of emojis and too many all caps (this is me projecting a little) but it’s KINDA like THIS!!!! 😁🎉🥰💞 so just lowkey how they talk
They are demiaroace. This is really important to me. It comes vaguely from the “we’re all equally ugly sexless beings” line but mostly it’s just vibes
+bouncing off that, I like any and all ships involving Orange! My favorites are Red/Orange and Green/Orange but I also lovelovelove rarepairs like Orange/Black and Orange/White. UhhI feel like I’m forgetting one. Idk. I like all Orange ships ok. OH RIGHT I love yellow/Orange a ton!!
When it comes to polys I like the whole crew together, plus green/white/orange, orange/brown/yellow, blue/green/orange, and prolly other combinations I can’t think of
Orange was highkey a freak even before getting infected!! You can tell this from the show but I wanted to say it again. They are clingy and touchy and annoying I think partially because they like. Genuinely don’t have any friends lmao? It’s been talked about how orange is the only character who isn’t in a duo with anyone else and that’s FASCINATING to me! The alien made them care less about genuine connection I think and that’s the most insidious horror aspect of their story. The literal “talking to people is my job” character losing that spark to want to make connections. I love it.

Oooohhhhhh evil thought. What if part of why Purple was so willing to put themself up as bait during the final fight was them trying to make up for the fact that they were. Essentially trying to kill Red with extremely bare bones and circumstantial proof for the past 3 episodes? Like I think even without any sort of guilt Purple probably would've decided to be bait anyway, their moral compass is really strong and they've proven willing to sacrifice basically everything for what they think is right already. But I do still think it's important that, instead of trying to send the person they've been determined to eject into space off to act as unarmed bait while they stay in the shadows with a weapon, they choose to do it themself instead. Especially considering how emotionally constipated they are. Bro would rather potentially die then actually verbally admit they were wrong.
