Sampi's grandpas on his papa's side of the family played a substantial role in his life after the incident.
They were already pretty involved in his life beforehand, with Sampi often visiting them and greatly enjoying their company. Growing up, he saw them as just his cool grandpas, but afterwards, they'd end up replacing what was missing.
Since they were no longer receiving any sort of training from their pops, Zeta stepped up and figured that they still needed a skill to develop even if it wasn't related to their powers. Before, he was only teaching them the basics of how to use a firearm and other surface-level things to know about using it, but it escalated quickly, with Zeta teaching them how to use and craft explosives, along with handling bigger weapons and firearms. He became their mentor just as he was to Hood, and just as Psychic was to Sampi. It's because of this Sampi owns one of Zeta's prized guns, and why Sampi looks up to him so much in the present day; he stepped in when they needed support the most. What Zeta said when giving his gun to Sampi? "Tell yer pop pop I said hi. ’Kay?"
Sigma, with his boxing skills, also took up a mentor role after deciding that Sampi needed to learn how to protect themself when he beat them with little effort in a physical fight. They would train together, with Sampi's physical prowess growing each time and eventually being able to surpass Sigma in his own (former) profession, with much much more. Sigma is someone that reminds them of Psychic, except Sigma would actually give them pep talks and check in with them often, along with giving them breaks when needed. Still strict, but patient nonetheless (even with his anger issues). Essentially, he's what Psychic should've been.
Omicron reminds Sampi of Void; self-centered and believing himself to be above all. It should irritate them the same way Void's ego does, but somehow doesn't. It's hard to take him seriously, especially with how much of a large ham he is and the ridiculous speeches he gives about being the "almighty wizard of the universe." If anything, they find it hilarious, and they go to talk to him whenever they need a laugh. Omicron still provided Sampi with his own helpful insight, however, even if accidental.
"Your power is overflowing with such great potential! Maybe even you will get to rule the universe alongside me one day! An all-powerful and a slightly less all-powerful force on the side of evil!"
Looking back on some of the things he's said (especially that one), Sampi holds them in serious regard (ignoring the more hammy parts, obviously) and applies it to themself. They don't want to become whatever Omicron hypes them up to be. They take his words as reminders of what might happen if their powers get out of control again, except it will be much less fun than his third grandpa makes it out to be, and they most certainly will not be less powerful.
