More veggie burgers! Armenian puy lentil burger with @saltbakehouse pita bread, avocado, and pickled chillies a la @donovanrosema @jessiethompson7487. Cooked the lentils with onion, cloves, cinnamon and bay which really enhances the flavour. Next time would make in smaller falafel sized balls for optimal pita stuffing. The pickles were of course ace. (Recipe from @lukasvolger’s veggie burger book!) #veggieburger #cookingthebooks (at Orchard Cottage) https://www.instagram.com/p/CFHJgqeHCAx/?igshid=1rj71goic9kkt

The Potting Shed in Crudwell, North Wiltshire, have phenomenal triple-cooked chips. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Perhaps they could have been a touch more golden but who cares? They rocked. We were told that they were the biggest chips they'd served all night - indeed, these were some seriously chunky chips.
We had the chips as a starter to our main meal - the staff were not totally ready for this. We wanted a big sharing bowl of chips for the table, but were informed they didn't have "big bowls", so we made do with small bowls and shared a bottle of Prosecco instead.
Speaking of Prosecco, we used this opportunity to test a couple other chip theories: first, that fizz makes a perfect pairing for chips (thank you Matching Food and Wine). In this particular instance, it was totally true (particularly with chips dipped in mayonnaise - ketchup, however, was not ideal). Of course, I love Prosecco regardless of its match so it was hard to go wrong with this one: a cheerful beverage for a very cheerful occasion.
We also tested The Potting Shed's chips as filler for a "chip butty" sandwich, easily done as a complimentary bread boards comes before the meal. What a carb fest. Just as well we were all running a marathon the next day (not).
We conclude that the chips make a delicious butty with The Potting Shed's granary bread. We hope they will be adding this option as a first course to their menu soon.

Lolcats ‘n’ Funny Pictures - I Can Has Cheezburger?
Every time you successfully complete a 30-day trial, even if the final result is that you choose not to continue beyond that point, it builds your discipline and makes it easier to take on more challenging trials. If I attempted this trial ten years ago, there’s no way I’d have made it this far. My willpower would have been too weak to push through the resistance.

Scientists have discovered the first gene which appears to increase the odds of being left-handed. The Oxford University-led team believe carrying the gene may also slightly raise the risk of developing psychotic mental illness such as schizophrenia.

It’s as though the millions of people whom environmentalists have successfully prodded to be concerned about climate change are experiencing a SnackWell’s moment: confronted with a box of fat-free devil’s food chocolate cookies, which seem deliciously guilt-free, they consume the entire box, avoiding any fats but loading up on calories.

Revolution in plastic recycling?
Key to GRC’s process is a machine that uses 1200 different frequencies within the microwave range, which act on specific hydrocarbon materials. As the material is zapped at the appropriate wavelength, part of the hydrocarbons that make up the plastic and rubber in the material are broken down into diesel oil and combustible gas.

Iced Coffee? No Sweat
You just add water to coffee, stir, cover it and leave it out on the counter overnight. A quick two-step filtering the next day (strain the grounds through a sieve, and use a coffee filter to pick up silt), a dilution of the brew one-to-one with water, and you’re done. Except for the time it sits on the kitchen counter, the whole process takes about five minutes.

I’ve always thought it fascinating that the minds of our ( India’s) greatest leaders were formed here in London and yet, London hardly commemorates this. But there’s another thing. When one gets homesick you look for something that is yours, something Indian. Not food, nor film, nor Hindi film music. London’s Indian connections and history is what I’ve found and want to share with others.

Pixen graphics editor
Free and made for Mac? Are these the pixels I'm looking for?
"Pixen is an innovative graphics editor for the Mac. It's designed from top to bottom for pixel artists—people who make low-resolution raster art like the sprites you see in old video games. But it's great for artists of all arenas: Pixen is like a very powerful MSPaint or a simpler, more agile Photoshop. And best of all, it's Free!"
