Lin stepped off the ferry onto the soft sand on the Air Temple Island beach. It was early, but she’d been up for hours already. 

Morning sun glinted feverishly off the still waters, and she squinted against the glare, holding her hand to her head for shade. 

“What do you think, Chief?” Mako asked. “How else could there be a new airbender that we didn’t know about?”

“Let’s not jump to any conclusions, kid.” 

“Yeah, but–”

“Zip it. Let me handle this. There are a few ways this could go, and I’d rather it didn’t–” Lin stopped short, catching sight of Kya, her laugh echoing across the courtyard. Spirits, she looked good. Even better than the last time she’d seen her.

“Chief?”

“Yeah, like I said, let me handle this, alright?” 

Mako followed her gaze. “What is Bumi doing?”

“Hard to say.” Lin stole another glance, her eyes lingering on Kya’s hips, the curve of them only just visible beneath her skirts. Lin swallowed hard, blinking furiously to clear the image from her mind. “Invisible spirit monster attack?” she asked.

This is an AU animatic for a split world where Adora took Angella’s place in the portal at the end of S3 and is left alone to remember her life and her friends and what it all meant to her. I got the idea randomly while listening to this song and it just absolutely wouldn’t leave me alone - it fits so well!
