Hey! sorry if youve posted about this before but im a bit bad at navigating this site, could you explain the basics of PDID? I just want to learn more and i think getting it directly from someone who has it is best, thank u so much.
Hello! No worries I love explaining stuff
This is gonna be less basic more yappy but its because I wanna use this as an info link for people to look back at! (If ya don't mind!) You just gave me the time and place for it lol!
But tldr it's like your host being almost forever front stuck
(LEAVE COMMENTS FOR QUESTIONS PLEASE IT HELPS US ADD ONTO THIS INSTEAD OF HAVING TO COPY DOWN ASK ANSWERS!)
PDID is pretty simple actually and when you see it next to other varients of identity dissociation like DID and OSDD you'll see it easily
DID has things like distinct alters, a lot of dissociation and typically is the most likely to have blackout amnesia but not always
OSDD can have more or less amnesia or more or less formed alters but the point is that it is otherwise specified because it doesn't fit DID 100%
Well, PDID stands for Partial dissociative identity disorder
This sadly gets lumped into OSSD in the US since OSSD criteria is just "fits DID but not to a T" basically and the US does not follow the ICD where PDID is listed!
but as I explain keep that in mind and know I find that ridiculous-
P-DID can present a lot like OSSD, in fact I thought we had it at first!
But the issue was that I found I never truly left
I was a whisper in the wind
But I was still there! I was unknowingly letting members come forward more because, well, I thought they had to! But actually looking into it I found this made us have worse symptoms
I was forcing us to fucntion in a way our brain didn't want on top of being newly discovered and our brain was PISSED! Delusions, emotional spikes, it was awful but we leveled out
Main Guy Forever.. Kinda (What Makes It Different)
P-DID is most well known by having a "main alter" I am not a CORE but perhaps a bigger part of what makes us ourself
The main alter tends to be a default host- think of those times you would get front stuck for DAYS..now think of that for YEARS! Been stuck for years? Try SEVEN! YEP!
You heard that right! PDID hosts very RARELY switch! Our last switch was when we were thirteenth and we are TWENTY
Why? Well as far as I am aware our old host just couldn't take it anymore- they carry the pain and bared the burden of our trauma and they just can't be here anymore
It hurts both mentally and physically to be around them.. sigh
How The Hell? (Discovery)
Now, how do you know you are a system if you never or nearly never switch! Well, voices for one- but you also have to rule out schizophrenia h a h- which we frankly have no signs of and boy it was scary to look into
We see forms of members in our mind, we've grown to inhabit an innerworld which while isnt system specific helps a lot in seeing alters-
There is also just generally the way our thoughts overlapped and felt almost too..varied
There is also influence! And alter near front may influence the host in any system but is very much prominent in PDID
It can go from meal changes to mood swings to straight up gender expression and sexuality
And usually it fades out with the member leaving
PDID can also be heavily fragmented so I would say it's possible to have PDID and be polyfragmented/fragment heavy but of course you can be without
The fragments are usually one trick pony types holding a job or trait or 2 and not doing much else because why would you need more when someone is always running the show /hj
I also find we are very introject heavy! But it may vary so just take that with a grain of salt!
Do You Remember? The Twenty First Somethin'... Uh... (Amnesia)
PDID also can still experience amnesia! I find the most common to be greyouts (getting the gist of the memory), White outs (forgetting and it slowly coming to) or emotional amnesia (remembering the memory but not the emotions tied with it)
But you can experience blackouts with PDID! Sometimes the alter just sorta takes that part of your memory and stashes it away-
I can't think of anything else off the top of my head so I hope this helps for now !
