Borderlands (for the wip ask game)

This is a very long-going story that I will probably never finish and I haven't honestly looked at in a while. I had a pretty good hold on it but then the third game came out and well.... They killed Maya and it kind of broke my heart.

The main idea was that Maya got cornered by the people who raised her and just as she was about to kill them Zero shows up to save the day(ant that strange??), but mysteriously they have a device that basically freezes his suite and they use him to get her onto a ship. Most of the story is centered around them being held prisoner on a ship back to her home planet and along the way finding out who and what Zero is.

The Vow of Shared Light

It's mentioned vaguely a few times and spoken of once and twice briefly throughout the Tale of the Phantom series, but never given an exact name or what it really means. Here's a look at my head cannon for when Guardians get married/become partners/ect.

The idea of The Vow of Shared Light, is that a Guardian's Light is like a fingerprint - everyone has them, but each one is different. It's my reasoning as to why Ghost can only revive one person with their Light (in most cases anyway. Looking at you Shin.)

Because of its unique quality, Light to a guardian' is like their soul in a way, a piece of who they simply are, and giving someone a small amount of their Light (even if that is replaced through normal channels) is not only sacred but a very personal and telling gesture. The two biggest events that hint at this both happen in book one: When Tevis gives his last sparks of Light to Skylar as he's dying, basically telling her he loves her, and when Cayde gives Skylar the amber pendant with a piece of his Solar Light trapped in it. Cayde's gesture is closer to what a Vow is done as.

Gemstones, and other certain minerals (like hardened tree sap, which is amber) can hold Light in them if done the right way. Because of this, when Two Light bearers exchange the Vow, they place a part of their light into a stone that the other is wearing. Any gemstone on anything works, but most still just use rings. The Light, as you've read from Skylar's pendant, doesn't fade, even when the guardian that put it there is dead.

It's an extremely small part of my in-house lore that I never really get to talk about, so I'm just going to throw it out here and see what people think.

I haven't been posting much, sad to say I've been super busy and it's a good thing I finished Phantom Pains when I did. Between going back to school and working, I don't even play video games much. I've done a tiny amount of writing though, and an art piece. Have my DnD ranger with no name.

And with that, heavy metal Skylar's card is done. I don't think I'll be doing any more of these, at least for now. All that's left are minor characters and they don't really have guns that I picked for them.

So Skylar finally got a playing card drawing. I feel like I did my character lineup backward? Here's mk.1 Skylar from books 1 & 2 before she went heavy metal, lol. Also gave me a chance to update her fun, The Fated Hearts, which has to be refurbished AGAIN during the Red War. That's Okay, Cayxde the parts to fix it.

This gun might also have an entire perk list now. :P

I was thinking about how since these are inspired by playing cards, they should have suites, right? For Haar, I think he'd be the King of Clubs. As for the rest:

I present to you: Noble. I'm pretty sure I've never drawn him with his helmet off, so here you go. Noble was found in South America, and is the good old Human-Male-Soldior type and has an almost lawful good personality.

He also can't get his friends to stop calling him Perkins.

His name is a nod to the Noble Six in Halo Reach.

I finally got a second 'play card' style profile picture of another character from the Tale of the Phantom series. For those of you that read, you'll probably have guessed, but this is Skylar's best friend, Z Redwolf, explosive expert (or so he says) that blows himself up probably as much as he blows enemies up, according to his ghost anyway. This gun of choice is the Last Word, and according to him, he carved the snake skull into his helmet, even though wolves are his favorite animal. Why? no one seems to know.

Have any lore questions? Want to know why he likes blowing himself up? How the hell has Corvan not killed him yet? Ask away!
