This mural I made for our DJ booth at Camp Contact never made it back to me after Burningman. I spent a week of non-stop work and around $250 in materials (which was a ton of money for this unemployed artist) to bring this 15ft mural to life. It means a lot to me. After the burn it was loaded into the DC-bound shipping container but never made it back into my possession like the rest of my belongings. I was curious if anyone who helped load-in the container on Playa or unload in DC might have seen a canvas rolled up with a bungee tie with a Camp Contact sticker or the name VOYAGER written on the outside. I'm really glad that I found this CD from 2003. I believe this is the first album that my old buddy Andy Domin and Doug Appling @emanc made together while we were still in highschool. They had this label together called "extortion labs" with a website they offered mp3s for free download. extlabs.com featured music they collaborated on and their solo work, as well as featuring other local artists, like my other buddy Connor Jones. The last track on this was when I truly fell in love with The Emancipator. I really hope this doesn't skip in my spaceship
While I'm at my mom's, I'm sorting through a stack of paintings I made around a decade ago. When I lived in Orange county in 2007 this was made with guache watercolor as incorrectly as I could. Whatever happy accidents occurred, like the water bubble marks you can see in the grass on the left side beneath the sun, I've tried many a time to recreate. I think it's absolutely magic how my favorite results are often flukes I managed to capture once upon a time
It gets harder to say goodbye to this city when it treats you so well. I'll happily claim last night's Catharsis HeART Unwind decompression at Uptown Arthouse as my going away party.. Unless you've got something better up your sleeve
