Hundreds gathered, many of them Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, outside the Cathedral of Assumption to dedicate the first statue of a historic woman on public space in Louisville, Kentucky.

Karma: Maiden Voyage

Is it the perfect family adventure van? Time will tell but, it may very well be.  

After several years of enthusiastically following OutsideVan and debating whether or not the price premium was worth it, we pulled the trigger on a family adventure van appropriately named Karma.  It’s built on the 2014 Mercedes Sprinter 170 High Roof V6 Turbo Diesel platform and is OSVs second attempt at combining their industry leading gear hauler features with camper van comforts (full galley, shower, water heater, solar, etc).

The tiny cabin consists of  three 20-foot shipping containers. At 355 square feet, it comes insulated with heat and a cooling system and it roughly costs just around $46,500 USD. Now Joseph Dupuis wants to help others, especially young people with debt, get hooked up to solar energy or build similar homes. That’s why he turned his passion into a business. When a devastating earthquake leveled Haiti in 2010, millions of people donated to the American Red Cross. The charity raised almost half a billion dollars. It was one of its most successful fundraising efforts ever. 

The American Red Cross vowed to help Haitians rebuild. Yet, after five years, the Red Cross’ legacy in Haiti isn’t new roads, schools and hundreds of new homes. And it’s difficult to know where all the money went.

It was July 2014 that the first images for the website overhaul were uploaded and it began to take shape. Today this major upgrade has gone live at scnfamily.org.

The site is powered by Wordpress, built by hundreds of community volunteers, with thousands of plugins and themes available to transform the site into almost anything. Over 60 million websites run on Wordpress, about 20% of all websites on the Internet.

I am proud to bring this upgraded design with a responsive layout and cleaner content to the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth's website.

What is the point of service, really?

The heart of Christianity is compassion. Jesus continually taught, modeled, and preached the absolute necessity for us to remove the blinders of our comfortable lives and embrace the “stranger,” the cast out, the wounded. The “truth” isn’t to be found in isolated spiritual refinement, but in relationship.
