LOUIS Tomlinson has praised former One Direction bandmate Zayn Malik following his two Brit Award nominations.
The singer appeared on nominations show The Brits Are Coming on Saturday night in a recorded segment discussing the biggest acts of 2016.
Despite having had a public spat on social media after Zayn quit the boyband in 2015, Louis clearly has no hard feelings towards the 24-year-old and his solo success.
He said: “Zayn had an absolute smash with Pillowtalk. It’s a weird feeling to see us all on our own but it’s also nice to feel that you’ve got the support of the other lads.”
The former bandmates fell out in May 2015 just months after Zayn quit One Direction when Louis got into a feud with producer Naughty Boy, who was working on Zayn’s debut album.
Zayn tweeted at the time: “@Louis_Tomlinson remember when you had a life and stopped making b**chy comments about mine?”
However the pair were able to make amends, and Zayn was one of the first to tweet his condolences to Louis after his mother Johannah passed away in December at the age of just 43.
He wrote: “@Louis_Tomlinson love you bro! All of your family is in my prayers. proud of your strength and know your mum is too x.”
However the two men will go head to head at the Brit Awards ceremony in February, as Zayn’s debut track Pillowtalk goes up against One Direction’s final single History in the British Artist Video category, which will be decided by public vote.
The nomination is somewhat surprising considering the group – which also consists of Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Liam Payne – went on an indefinite hiatus at the beginning of 2016.
As well as going up against his former bandmates, Zayn will also battle it out against his ex-fiancee Perrie Edwards and her Little Mix bandmates in two categories.
The couple broke off their engagement in August 2015 and the girl group’s smash hit Shout Out to my Ex is believed to reference their bitter breakup.
Both acts are up for British single, with Zayn receiving a nomination for Pillowtalk and Little Mix for Shout Out to my Ex.
They will also compete against each other in British Artist Video of the Year, with Zayn’s video for Pillowtalk - which features current girlfriend Gigi Hadid - going against the girls’ Hair, which features Sean Paul.
