This Week In: Hawaii
In honor of the Merrie Monarch Festival taking place this week, we will be focusing on Hawaii
Hawaii is the tropical resort getaway of choice for Americans and people from all around the world. The islands are beautiful, the weather is almost always perfect, and the relaxed life style in the envy of anyone who’s lucky enough to see it first hand. It’s a little farther away and it’s not always cheap to visit Hawaii, but anyone who’s serious about seeing new things and enjoying new experiences had better get to Hawaii as soon as possible.
If you came for the ocean and the beach, then there’s really not a bad place to go. They’re everywhere and I’m not really sure that there’s such thing as a bad beach, is there? One of the most famous and popular is Waikiki right in downtown Honolulu. The beach features iconic images and classic warm weather lounging. This is the perfect place to relax and catch up on a good book or take a quick nap. Just make sure you pack some sunscreen.
As leisure and relaxation are generally the plan for anyone coming to Hawaii, it’s no surprise that the golf in Hawaii is world class. There are courses all over the islands and many are designed by well-known course designers and frequented by golf enthusiasts from around the world. Many incorporate the beautiful, unique scenery and conditions of the islands to make their courses exciting for anyone who might want to play.
The best part about Hawaii, especially as it is a US state, is that the culture is so unique. The first inhabitants of Hawaii were there long before the islands became a US state. This means that the culture runs deep here and it’s always on display, whether musically, in the food of the islands, or just the way people interact with each other and live life.
Going to Hawaii can be a life changing experience. It will open your eyes to new things and give you a much needed break from the grind of your life back home. If you’re thinking about going to Hawaii then the time is now to plan a vacation and get going on your trip.
All this week I will be posting some of my favorite routines from past festivals.

This Week In: Alaska
If the United States is a modern power and behemoth on the world stage, then Alaska is at once one of the most spectacular and unlikely states in the whole Union. Admitted as a US state in 1959, after years of having only territorial status, Alaska is the largest and 4th least inhabited state in the nation. This means that most of Alaska is a wild place, free from human activity and completely untamed.
One of Alaska’s most striking gems of natural beauty is the magnificent and massive Denali National Park. One of the most expansive National Parks in the country, Denali is home to the highest peak in North America, Mt. McKinley (Denali). The snow-capped peak is the centerpiece at this park, but the surrounding area is just as beautiful and a little easier to maneuver if you happen to be averse to crampons, ropes, and ice picks.
Status as one of Alaska’s oldest and largest industries belongs proudly to fisherman. The waters surrounding this state are rich in marine life and the fishing is good for those who are willing to brave the harsh conditions. If you’re trip takes you to Anchorage, stop in at the Anchorage Museum to view their displays of antique fishing gear and retro advertisements.
Alaska is about as unique as it gets in The United States. Some of the most rugged, beautiful mountains in the world running all the way to the ocean, glaciers, and countless animals are just a few of the natural wonders you’ll encounter here. Whatever you do in Alaska though, it’s sure to be wild.

This Week In: The American South
The Southern United States is one of the most beautiful regions in the entire country. With landscapes as varied as the rolling hills of Virginia to the deltas and swamp country in Louisiana and Mississippi, the South is full of incredible natural beauty and a rich culture. It depends on whom you ask but the exact geographic boundaries of the South are constantly up for debate. We won’t get into that here, but we do have a couple of tips for traveling to locations that no one can argue are Southern or beautiful.
A huge number of people choose to enjoy the natural beauty of the south by hiking all or a portion of the famed Appalachian Trail. Stretching from Georgia all the way to the Northeastern tip of The US, this trail covers a lot of ground as it winds through forests, hills, and mostly secluded country. Although the trail is long, there are all sorts of miniature excursions to be taken all over the South. Hop on for a day hike or a multi-day backpacking trip in Georgia, Tennessee, or Kentucky.
Anyone traveling to the South should be warned about the food: It is some of the tastiest cuisine in the whole world. Combining cooking traditions from around the world with a unique palette of local raw materials, this cooking style is unique to say the least. Eating in the South can be extremely enjoyable, somewhat addictive, and borderline unhealthy.
Cajun cooking in Louisiana, ubiquitous barbecue joints, or the famed tradition of soul food, it doesn’t matter, the food here is unreal. Try to sample a little bit of everything to get a real taste for what eating in this part of the country is like. Just be careful to get back on your exercise regimen when you return home, this food can be fattening.
Whatever you want to do or see in the South, you won’t regret your decision to make the trip. With friendly people, a vibrant culture, and some of the best food known to man, this is a vacation destination you can’t afford to miss.
This Week In...America's National Parks: Historic Trails & Blue Ridge Mountains by Cosmos
This is a scenic and educationally packed trip as history comes alive in locations throughout this tour. Your trip begins and ends in the capital of the United States, Washington DC. There’s plenty of sightseeing to be done in Washington DC, and your sightseeing tour covers the highlights. In Colonial Williamsburg, see history recreated as costumed villagers add charm and authenticity to the quaint streets. Also visit Monticello, Thomas Jefferson’s home; Mount Vernon, the home of George and Martha Washington; Sinking Spring Farm, where Lincoln was born; Harper’s Ferry, where John Brown made his raid on the U.S. arsenal; and Gettysburg Battlefield, where Lincoln delivered the famous Gettysburg Address.
This vacation also includes beautiful scenery. Enjoy vistas of the Shenandoah Valley from the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and stop at the Luray Caves. At the foot of the Great Smoky Mountains sits the popular mountain retreat of Gatlinburg, where you’ll spend two nights. In Kentucky, the scenery changes to the green pastures, whiteboard fences, and columned estates of Kentucky Bluegrass Country. These are just a few of the many features you’ll enjoy on this vacation. History and beauty—this trip has it all!
This Week In...America's National Parks: Cowboy Country by Tauck
It's time to hit the trail for a Western adventure... the ultimate family South Dakota and Wyoming vacation. The first pioneers had to raft down wilderness rivers, just like you will when you explore the Snake River. You'll have a chance to look for beaver, elk, bison and more as you travel to Yellowstone National Park, where Old Faithful shoots its plume of steam skyward every hour – and you'll be staying in a lodge just steps away! Nothing says "Wild West" like Buffalo Bill and a buckin' bronco rodeo; learn more about them when you spend the night in historic Cody. Live the life of a cowboy by day at the TA Guest Ranch in Wyoming, site of a Johnson County War shootout, and by night with a stay at The Ranch at Ucross, a real dude ranch up in the Bighorn Mountains. Everything is larger than life in the West – especially Crazy Horse Memorial and Mt. Rushmore in South Dakota's Black Hills, where the faces of four former presidents are sculpted in stone – and the purple mountains' majesty of the Tetons, where you'll enjoy a two-night stay in a classic western lodge!
This Week In...America's National Parks: Adventures in the Wild NW by Trafalgar Tours
Take the whole family on an adventure of a lifetime as you begin this guided trip by walking across San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge.
