Β Β Pandora waited for an answer, but it didnβt come as quickly as she expected. Nekro stared at her as if she was a phantasmΒ from another world, his shoulders seemed to have trembled for a second. In that form, she actually didnβt mind his presence, since it didnβt perturbe her as much. But the commander had things to do, and his wavering was a tadβ¦ Disconcerting? No, that wasnβt the exact expression.
Β Β But she still waited.
Β Β βYou exchanged your loyalty.β After hearing his babbling, her reply was quick and absolute. Amethyst eyes never left the boy, her delicate visage acquired a sour expression. Yes, the damned twins had been sealed after all their big talk, leaving the castle unprotected. Stupid gods and their stupid games, some centuries trapped inside a box would serve them well. She tucked a lock of silkyΒ hair behind an ear, leaving such thoughts behind. It was done, after all, and nothing could change that.
Β Β βHowever, I understand it was an imperative change. The Tartarus cannot collapse, for it would infect the Underworld.β And nothing would touch her Lordβs lands as long as she lived.Β βI must know this new master you speak of, Nekro, and if Emperor Hades would approve their stay.β Pandora wasnβt asking.Β βAlsoβ¦ His kind?β
Β Β His kind. What else could that thing - boy? - be. The Lady could sense it had returned accompanied with problems. What was new.
Β Β βMore importantly: what are you now, creature of Death?β
This athmosphere between the two of them was so strange, was it because he could feel more than before? Or things were really different? Too many questions, no matter what it was, a change was a change and so far, it was for the good it seemed since she did not reject his presence, nor did she show any displeasure to it. She even seemed willing to speak further about the matter.
How she took the information though, did not sound exactly like how he wanted to put it and only worsened his nervouseness. Not that he was scared of how anyone would react to it, he did what he could for the best and they could not blame him for it. His loyalty would always remain to Thanatos, but what a forsaken pawn like him could do without its Master to help him ensure the balance of their realm? As high as he was, he did not have the power to hold it all together just by himself.
He was nothing but a lost pawn... a servant to whoever would hear his calling for help, one of a pathetic spirit commanding many weak and wandrring souls, trying to keep them united in one place that was crumbling after it lost its pillar. But her words... it hurts to hear her say that. He who has always been the most loyal to the God of Death, he who would have done anything for her despite that. He who still came to show her that he was trying his best to get that weight off their shoulders i that moment of crisis despite his grief... he who lost everything and gained much at the same time.
He could not speak a word, he knew that she was not done yet and instead... he bit his tongue slightly, tasting iron in his mouth as he kept it shut. He did not regret his silence though, the continuation of her speech was a little more reassuring and he could feel his chest lighten a little as she agreed to his desperate action. They had enough to deal with already, he could do that much to make himself useful after his masterβs failure and falldown. When she asked for that new Master, he did not even see the point to tell anything about it. The realm he was from was much like their own but still not the same, it was another Underworld but the Tartarus was still connected to it.
β¦β β¦Β βPandora... You have enough to focus on for the sake of Hades-sama. Please, let me handle this with no worry... Did I ever disappoint you despite my nature?β Yes, he was careless, he has been acting like a capricious child and even disobeyed Thanatos a few times just to commit some mischiefs in the living world but who cared for a bunch of humans anyway. He was still being serious when need be and always did his stack of work without complaining even while he was mistreated for what he was and could not be as free as he wanted to be no matter what.
That she would question what that Master was, he could understand, especially since she had to face it right now. He was no longer a Spirit but he was still partly what Thanatos had created. AS a Spirit, he had reached the pinnacle of his own species but as he was now... he was back to the bottom of another evolution to make. How was he going to explani that, since what he was did not even belong to her universe, maybe he could make a comparison that she could understand easily.
β¦β β¦ βI am a demon, this is pretty much comparable to a Specter in this realm but a bit more complicated in a way.β The fact that she asked directly what he was made the warm raise slightly. It felt better this time though as his confidence was raising with it. She was paying attention for much longer than usual, she was looking directly at him and not even once did her eyes avert from him. That was much more than he culd have wished for, now if only she could trust him for what he was doing and not give herself more worries than needed. βI only came to inform you, I thought it was necessary.β As much as it was to him just to see her and reassure her on the matter.
