The girl’s hands immediately go back as her head strains against the rock - back to the offending grasp on her neck, to the wrist connecting to it. She’s trying to pull it away from her neck, to breathe, to move - the most important things. The most important thing is to not die, and that’s the intent. ”G-get off of me!” Zee sputters angrily, but her arm strength isn’t so great. ”You’re not hurting people, so I don’t really care what happens to me as long as you’re not hurting anyone else…!” She writhes a little bit, but there’s no heart in it.
But Zee’s eyes grow wide at the spike and wide at his words. One hurts her heart, and one is going to hurt her body - what else is there to expect? The boy calls himself a murderer. ”…Tural…” Her glasses are slowly slipping off her face, but not quite fallen yet; the sudden movement backwards seems to have started them on the forwards/downwards path to the ground. The single word is a call to a boy who she knows can’t hear her, isn’t here, doesn’t exist at the moment - there is only Barrett.
Struggling and struggling, but with stronger vigor; Zee remembers exactly what happened last time he cornered her like this and she wishes she didn’t. Every detail. The blood, the pain - it hurt so much and…but she’ll take what she can take. She’s not important. Her friends are, and they’ve already gone through enough - it’s her job to shrink how much hurt they are given as much as she can.

That’s a surprise, yes; but her colors don’t quite make Zee good at hiding. (The lilac hair’s a post-death surprise - the rest is not. She’s always had a taste for bright colors.) She startles and tenses, planting her feet more widely and clenching her hands into fists. ”…yeah, it’s been a while, jerk! And for the record? I only insult people when the insults are true!” The spike…he wouldn’t. But she’s fully aware he would - the person standing across from her is brutal. He’s killed her before.
She won’t let him do it again. ”Was this platform too obvious, huh? I kind of doubted your smarts.” Zee’s voice doesn’t waver at all. It’s determined and firm. The girl braces herself against a rock and stands tall, glaring harshly.
His smile twitches into a frown as he narrows his eyes at her, his grip around his newly found spike tightening, “Now see, that’s just what I don’t like about you. You just go about and do things without a second thought, not even considering the amount of trouble you’re causing yourself and others.” He takes a step towards Zee, no longer bothering with his usual mask. “You barge into circumstances that you know are unsafe; you provoke the wrong people. Again and again, you make the same fatal mistake. And why? Because of this strange little thought in your head that makes you believe that what you’re doing is actually helping everyone else.” He scoffs in contempt at the thought, no longer hiding his spike, “How pitiful.”
He gives a halfhearted laugh when she calls him stupid, crossing his arms as he flatly gazes at her, “At least I’m not the one picking a fight with a killer.” Slowly, he begins to close in on her, keeping his gaze locked with hers, “Now, while I’d absolutely love to stick around and make small talk, I have a schedule to stick to. So let’s make this quick, alright?~” And with that, he’s at her throat, taking this moment of surprise to pin her against the rock she’s standing by. He has a firm hold on her, but his intention isn’t to choke her. Oh no, he has something different up his sleeve this time around.
The girl's hands immediately go back as her head strains against the rock - back to the offending grasp on her neck, to the wrist connecting to it. She's trying to pull it away from her neck, to breathe, to move - the most important things. The most important thing is to not die, and that's the intent. "G-get off of me!" Zee sputters angrily, but her arm strength isn't so great. "You're not hurting people, so I don't really care what happens to me as long as you're not hurting anyone else...!" She writhes a little bit, but there's no heart in it.
But Zee's eyes grow wide at the spike and wide at his words. One hurts her heart, and one is going to hurt her body - what else is there to expect? The boy calls himself a murderer. "...Tural..." Her glasses are slowly slipping off her face, but not quite fallen yet; the sudden movement backwards seems to have started them on the forwards/downwards path to the ground. The single word is a call to a boy who she knows can't hear her, isn't here, doesn't exist at the moment - there is only Barrett.
Struggling and struggling, but with stronger vigor; Zee remembers exactly what happened last time he cornered her like this and she wishes she didn't. Every detail. The blood, the pain - it hurt so much and...but she'll take what she can take. She's not important. Her friends are, and they've already gone through enough - it's her job to shrink how much hurt they are given as much as she can.
Zinnia Shive stands worriedly on a platform in Body World. …he can’t find her. Got to distract Barrett or something - he’s dangerous but she’s got a good eye for details, for moving objects, for his colors that she knows well. After all, you don’t forget the appearance of your murderer.
She certainly got a good enough sight at him last time, anyways; the tree bark made a good headrest. (In the back of her mind Zee vaguely wonders if her blood’s still on it. Dismisses the thought. Not now. She’ll go check it out later.) The rocks are making a decent natural cover for one of her height and agility - not good enough to stand up to suspicion, but good enough to spot him first.
Tick. Tock. She’s waiting, Barrett; waiting like a fool, shifting weight back and forth between feet and biting her lip. Younger than the majority of End-dwellers and shorter as well - Zee’s mind is filled with kindness and good, and she is so easy to fool. Believing the best of everyone doesn’t get you very far here.
It’s a wonder she didn’t get murdered earlier.
Body was where he woke up, so naturally it was the place that he chose to search first. He doesn’t bother to try and keep himself out of her sights; what’s the point in that? She knew he was coming, and he wasn’t really one for pulling things like that. Any other person could sneak about all they wanted, but when he was taking care of business, he wanted to be sure that his awaiting “friend” knew where he was coming from.
A spike pit comes into his sights and he stops and its edge, peering down into it. It’s relatively shallow; deep enough to be missed from a distance but high enough to not do any real damage if it didn’t have any spikes in it. He grabs one of the spikes in the pit, tugging at it until it quickly gives away. He examines it for a moment before giving a little nod in approval; this would do perfectly.
It’s not too long before she’s finally in his sights (as well as he being in her’s), standing on a particularly narrow looking platform. He twirls the spike as if it were a harmless stick, casually making his way towards her. She really should have picked a better hiding spot; her current one was just way too easy to get to. He near effortlessly jumped the platforms between them before stopping at the edge of the one she was on, his not-so-harmless grin making itself known. He holds the spike behind his back, more than ready to use it when the time comes. “Hello again; it’s been a while, hasn’t it?~”
That's a surprise, yes; but her colors don't quite make Zee good at hiding. (The lilac hair's a post-death surprise - the rest is not. She's always had a taste for bright colors.) He didn’t really expect Tommy to get there when he did, but he wasn’t exactly complaining about it either!! If anything, he was glad that someone had bothered to show up and help out; he knew he wouldn’t exactly be able to take care of both Alice and Zee at the same time, after all.
Ignoring her screeching, Tural continued to pull Alice further away from Zee, taking her back far enough so that she wouldn’t be able to sneak away from him and attack the poor girl once more. She suddenly starts squirming out of his hold, and, mainly out of surprise, he slightly lightened his grip on her…
…which apparently wasn’t a very good idea; just as soon as she was free, she delivered a surprisingly strong punch right to his face. Tural backtracked a couple of steps, rubbing his now sore cheek. He was pretty damn lucky that she didn’t hit his nose, but that punch still fucking hurt!!! For a small girl she could hit pretty fucking hard, good lord.
He glared at her, rubbing his still sore cheek. He mumbled under his breath, just barely loud enough for Alice to hear, “Tch, what, this is the thanks I get for keeping my word?”
Tommy catches the girl, supporting her as best he can. She’s weak— not dead and not near death, thankfully, but weak. And he’s struck with the insane urge to find Halley and knock her fangs out for starting this shit in the first place. He frowns, his mind in a silent panic over whether Zee too could have been changed by the bite. As if two—potentially three vampires isn’t enough of a goddamn predicament.
“Y-yeah right Zee you don’t look fine,” Tommy stammers. “I-I told you not to go why doesn’t anybody listen,” he says, half to himself. Which is when Minnie’s words come back to him, almost the exact same as the ones that just came out of his mouth. Maybe this is some sort cruel karma for all the lack of listening he’s done. Maybe it’s exactly the same as when he runs off to help people— and Zee. Well, Zee could have only wanted to help Alice, to help her friend.
There’s something off. He takes a sharp inhale and he swears he senses something foreign dash through his veins, like a shadow in the peripherals. Not now please not now. Something itches in the back of his skull and instantly, instantly, he knows. He completely lets go of the girl and steps quickly backward, making as much distance as he possibly can. “Zee I need you to step away from me and run.” He says seriously, his voice low. A flicker of red passes through his eyes. “I think- something’s wrong…. and Zee I want you to run.”
Alice grins widely as her fist connects with Tural’s face. The sound and the feel is just so… satisfying. She goes to sock him again, stepping towards him. But she hesitates for a second. His word. That’s right. They had made a deal. He was going to stop her when she…
She slowly lowers her fist and looks at him. What the hell was she doing? She wasn’t supposed to do this, she wasn’t supposed to hurt her friends. She turns her head over to where Tommy and Zee were, then looks down to her bloodied hands. No, this wasn’t supposed to happen.
But when Tommy tells Zee to run, the urge comes back and the grin is on her face again. She laughs quietly to herself, a strange laugh that she had never done before. She quickly kicks Tural in the stomach, hopefully getting him hurt and off balance so he could fall to the floor.
Zee frets, her eyes changing to their usual state of concern. "Tommy, what is it, what's wrong? Come on; really, I'm fine, I am! But I can't help you if you don't tell me why to run." With her head pointed towards the ground, she can't see the glint in his eyes, but she feels the shiver - something's wrong, sure; something's wrong.
The girl places her right arm - the one that can currently grasp well, hold well, exert strain - on a tree and leans, turning to face him. There's not a single inkling of fear or hate or anything besides worry and a bit of distress; because wouldn't luck have it, Zee tries so hard to be a good person. "Really, Tommy, what's going on? You help me out and then you tell me to run...? You don't make any sense!" That line's accompanied by a pout, as if it'll get him to say a thing or two.
