The Face Book
Since Facebook turned 10 yesterday, I thought it would be cool to research what actual face book directories looked like back in the day. By the time I graduated from high school, printed face book directories were recently obsolete due to the presence of facebook.com (trust me, i'm not THAT young)
With that being said, I haven't found any face books YET, but I have found some old yearbooks from the 1920s which will suffice for now. As someone who enjoys researching life in places and times beyond my home of present day NYC, I am always looking for different sources, and yearbooks are good one. Haverford College's Archive has full yearbooks dating all the way back to the 1880s! Everett Area High School has a great collection too where you can even download full pdf books! Missouri University of Science and Technology has a great collection too. Take a look at those covers- They don't make Yearbooks like that anymore! Check out this Flickr set for a few more yearbook photos If you have any "face book" photos or links to a face book (that isn't facebook.com, ha..ha) that you would like to share, please, send them my way, and I'll post photos to the blog Photos in this post are from the Everett Area High School yearbook of 1921-1922:
