As I said in the announcement, we’ve all gone our separate ways and have our own lives to live. I honestly have only spoken to 2 studio members at all since we disbanded, but we haven’t thrown away our contacts to each other in the immensely slim case something comes up. Nobody would be disappointed if you stop following. There’s not much sense in waiting for nothing

Tumblr is now owned by a phone company, so it's stopped fighting for Network Neutrality

Yahoo’s sale to Verizon means that Yahoo’s sub-companies – Flickr, Tumblr and a host of others – are now divisions of a phone company, and as you might expect, being on the payroll of a notorious neutracidal maniac with a long history of sleazy, invasive, privacy-destroying, monopolistic, deceptive, anti-competitive, scumbag shakedowns has changed the public positions these companies are allowed to take.

This matters a lot. The previous fights for net neutrality were won in part with the support of scrappy online companies like Tumblr, whose CEO, staff and users worked together to send a strong message to Congress and the FCC about the importance of a neutral internet, free from ISPs who slow down your connections to services unless they pay bribes for “premium” carriage.

With Trump’s FCC set to slay Net Neutality, the internet is once again planning a day of coordinated action: on July 12, sites across the net will send their users to the FCC and Congress to demand that ISPs be held to a public service standard befitting the trillions of dollars in public subsidies they receive every year in the form of access to rights of way through our cities and between them.

However, Tumblr is not among the companies presently slated to participate, and sources within the company told The Verge that the company and its CEO, David Karp (once a staunch Net Neutrality campaigner) have been given orders to sit this one out.

Hey everyone, I usually don’t like to get socio-political on here, but this is something you should all be aware of. With this merger, Tumblr may soon become an unstable platform for us to host updates and link people to announcements. All creatives should be worried about this, as well as their fans.

I suggest you follow all your favorite teams and people on other forms of social media, including us. Here’s our youtube (if for some reason you aren’t already following that) and our twitter. If everything goes south on this site, we’ll look for a new main hosting platform as well. Likely an actual website host, rather than having our domain redirect to this tumblr account. Let’s keep ahead of the game with this one, it’s the smart thing to do. Share the original post above around to keep the awareness of this change cycling. Thank you,

With that latest upload, the Rainbow Factory storyboard releases are now complete. Thank you all for sticking with us. Our MLP assets will be released this weekend for public use. We know those of you sticking around for future releases won't be disappointed, and please keep in mind that though we’ve moved on we’ve only gained momentum; we never lost any. Hey everyone! We know a lot of you are disappointed in the cancellation of the Rainbow Factory project, but we still want to hear from you. What content do you hope to see from us in the future? Reply to this post and let us know!

Is there a chance you could release everything possible and let someone else pick it up? How would you feel if somebody else continued RF? Also, why didn't you guys just hire new members to join the team?

We announced in our last video that we would be releasing all our assets with the hopes that others may pick it up. So please, anyone who is interested, have at it. You have our support. As far as bringing other people on, we've tried multiple times. A big one was last year. We spent a good chunk of summer and fall 2016 contacting other fandom animators with the following 4 responses:"I don't have the time to help""I don't work on grimdark""I'm thinking of stopping pony myself"*No response at all*The reality was unfortunate, but not unexpected. We didn't have the manpower, and the number of experienced fan animators willing to help was 0. Our goal was to educate new animators, which we continued to do as much as we could, but the hopes of releasing any finished product with the more inexperienced members were very slim. Over the following months, many of those others left to focus on their own projects, which while I'm happy they're doing what they want, kicked us in the balls. We were left with 3 experienced animators including myself, the animation director.Not limiting our content to MLP has already expanded the pool of talent we can call upon, because to be frank, the pony fandom doesn't have the animation talent it used to, and non-mlp people don't want their names on pony work.-Robb

Like most people I am devastated by the cancellation of The Rainbow Factory. I was so excited to see one of my favourite pony stories finally come to life!...but I guess animatics will have to do. On the subject of the future of Spectra Studious, what can we expect? Because I'll be honest I don't think I'll be sticking around if you'll be doing mainly other fandoms animations, since I'm not into many fandoms. But can we expect mostly original content from now on? Or just random stuff.

It’ll definitely be a mixed bag. Our currently developing concept is an original, but we’ll likely have shorts scattered about that are about other shows, games, etc. in between those. It’s too scattered now to tell how exactly things will go, but definitely expect fandom animations in there. I definitely get if that’s not “your bag” but regardless, thanks for asking
