Spencer tweaked his cat ears before looking at the person sitting across the bar from him dead in the eye. “Are you feline it meow, Mr. Krabs?”
“Well, it’s nice to have goals, even if they are completely unattainable. I’m just going to be honest with you. You’re not my type, not even close.”
“Your type isn’t amazingly handsome and suave?” He continued, mostly joking, with a shrug. “Damn, alright. If you’re looking for a dweeb, go grab my brother.”
“You are not a massive disappointment, though you could use a new sense of fashion…bad.”
“Massive disappointment, bad fashion--” He brandished a hand through the air dismissively, “--Either way, irrelevant. We’re at a party. I know you loooove me, but shouldn’t be trying to pick up some hapless party-goer?”
Che palle! Brings out his eyes? For a second there Lombardi considered to leave this conversation alone, maybe Ivanonv was just insane - you know, that kid you hide into the attic and hope he will not escape, and then he escapes with golden shoes and eye-burning tie. But conversation leaned into him. And while he already was very skeptic about the fashion catastrophe leaning into him, because he had no wish to gaze into his eyes, it did get worse. Matteo was slowly leaning back, when suddenly, the boy tripped over his stupidity and fell on him. And they both fell on the ground. “Get off me,” If Matteo was annoyed by the fashion, then now he was furious. He got up quickly, obviously, did not help the Ivanov boy, as it was not the right Ivanov boy, and tried to clean three dusts from his tuxedo while checking whether his watch and iPhone were fine. Couple of Lombardi guards were rushing over, but Lombardi showed them away with a shake of head. “You are not only fashion blind but also crippled?”
Spencer awkwardly fumbled around on the ground for a moment before managing to pick himself up. When he did, his cheeks were colored. Of course, with his general clumsiness and social ineptitude, this was nothing new, but he managed to find a way to be embarrassed every time as if it was the first time.
“Not exactly crippled, more-- More just heavy-handed.” He gave a tentative smile, hoping in vain that the other man wouldn’t hold onto his anger. And that the guards wouldn’t come after him when he tried to leave. Gucci wasn’t cheap, and washing out blood stains would be a royal pain in the ass.
“Er, sorry ‘bout that, though.” He forced his smile bigger. “Can I buy you a drink to make up for, y’know, tackling you?”
“Oh, sweetie, that’s not fashion. That’s a cry for help.”
“The only help I need is--” he paused to lean over onto the wall, slip, and only just manage to catch himself, “--getting you into bed.”
“No,no, no, it is not fashion. I am italian, I was born in fashion. That,” he pointed towards sneakers, “is not fashion, at least those ones ar enot fashion, unless you are homosexual fashion designer in New York Fashion week high on coke and with two white cats,” Sneakers with suit was the most stressful experience Matteo have had during this week. It could even be worse than unfitting suit. Maybe. Who was in charge of dressing those Ivanov boys? They needed some style lessons. “I can lend you one of my extra shoe pairs if needed. I will just assume you were asleep when you left your place and still are,” Like, maybe it was an honest mistake, right? Jesus Christ, how? He even downed his glass to calm his Italian nerves.
Spencer had never made attempt to remember the faces of anyone besides his father, his siblings, and his personal trainer. But the word “Italian” meant Lombardi, and there was no need to upset a Lombardi -- not if he wanted to get another invite to a party, that is.
“The only coke I do is-- Well, none, I’m not really into soda, either.” He shrugged. “I’ll pass on the shoes, though, I think these gold ones really bring out my eyes.” He leaned forward, getting obnoxiously close to the other man so that he could see the eyes in question, before managing to trip over himself and fall directly onto him.
“Clearly,” the younger said with an eye roll. “At least I’m not sticking out like a sore thumb. Who dressed you?”
“Uhh, myself? I may be a massive disappointment and generally inept, but I think I can manage clothes.”
“No….just no…God, who let you out of the house?”
“You’re just jealous because my batman mask is a thousand times cooler than whatever the fuck is stuck to your ugly face.”
“What do you mean the sneakers clash with the suit? It’s fashion.”
