Katniss and Peeta's feast in the cave comes with silverware and plates. I always found this odd- it seemed as if it would have inflated the cost frivolously. I figured it had something to do with standards in the captiol, especially with how Effie remarks about table manners on the train.

can’t believe Suzanne Collins had Wyatt Callow, who knew the odds of all the tributes’ deaths better than his own name, die protecting Lou Lou, who he statistically knew wouldn’t make it anyway. had Louella McCoy, who was immediately ready to try and stick it to the capital any way she could in the games, die before she even reached the arena. had Maysilee Donner, who constantly talked back, who wanted to die with her head up, who didn’t want to be treated like an animal by the capital, die mangled on the ground after having her vocal chords ripped out by a capital-manufactured bird. had Haymitch Abernathy, who from the moment he learned of Beetee’s plan, knew he was ready and willing to give up his life so that his friends and family could live, be forced to live without them, knowing all he did in the arena was for nothing. that everyone died anyway. sick and twisted.

Friendly reminder that Maysilee wears MULTIPLE necklaces in sotr and when she dies Haymitch puts on all of her jewlery in remembrance of her and the other tributes. I am sick. Why is Suzanne doing this. Stop this rn.

i am going to shout this from the rooftops:

Katniss, Haymitch, and the Seam inhabitants are all described as olive-skinned, brown-eyed (edit: and gray-eyed), and dark-haired.

Peeta, Maysilee, Katniss’ mother and the Merchants are largely described as blond haired, blue eyed, light-skinned.

The Hunger Games adaptations have a huge weakness to their casting because they allowed their white audience to overlook this very important fact, that the Mockingjay is a brown girl, that her mother was disowned for having a mixed-race and mixed-class marriage, that Katniss and Haymitch were long shots not just because they’re Seam but because they are brown… because the only brown characters in the movies (i.e. Rue, Thresh, 11 in general) were there to be tragic, not to be saviors.

Katniss Everdeen is brown, and I won’t forgive or forget the movies for erasing that part of her character.

The history of the mockingjay pin is so vital and idk why the movies changed it:

.Tam Amber (known by Lucy gray) and raised Lenore Dove made it for Maysilee Donner

.Maysilee Donner was the daughter of the mayor and best friend of katniss' mom, and would become a tribute of the 50th games - Haymitch's games

.Maysilee said if she ever made it out of the capitol maybe shed start wearing it

.Maysilee never got the chance but years later her twin sister (Merilee) gave it to her daughter Madge who gave it to Katniss because they were best friends

.So even after Maysilee died a part of her was the LITERAL face of the rebellion, she will never be silenced

And i just feel like that should be in the movies SO let me talk

watched a sheep-shearing demo yesterday and the sheep do this thing. where they kick and struggle and bleat as the farmer drags them into place for clipping and wrestles them onto their back. the sheep hate it so much because they don't know what's happening.

and then the farmer gets two or three clips in, and the sheep just sort of chills out, and realizes it feels kind of nice. and their coat comes off and five minutes later they're released, shorn and naked, and they go run around with the other freshly-shorn sheep. they rub their skin against the hay and the barn walls and each other, and get startled by the new textures. sometimes they get cold, so they huddle up together or get a under a blanket.

and they will get sheared this time again, next year, and they will kick and struggle and bleat again, because they won't remember how it felt. they will remember a year of being an animal that everything wants to kill, and they won't be ready for someone to try to help them.
