Marley pulled him in and kissed him passionately - well, as passionately as she could with a box of cupcakes in her hand, âI love you,â she whispered. âi love you and I have stuff for you,â she said with a grin, gesturing to the gift bag, picking it up and letting herself into his place. She made herself comfy on the couch and opened her arms, âCâmere, câmere,â she giggled, offering him the box and the bag. She was a little nervous about the gift itself, she knew the cupcakes would be an easy sell, but the other  things were definitely more personal. âOpen this note first,â she said, handing it to him, flushing from her cheeks to her chest.Â
I wrote these over the last few weeks. There are about 25 of them. I know we try to spend every second together, but I also know that weâre busy and our lives are insane and sometimes things are hard. On the other hand, sometimes things are so overwhelmingly beautiful in this life, but we canât share them together in the moment. These letters are for those moments. I love you more than I ever thought was possible. Happy birthday.Â
Itâd been a while since heâd shared his birthday with someone he was dating and even then, sharing it with Marley felt different. It felt right. He loved her in every way; Marley just understood him and he felt comfortable with her... more comfortable than heâd ever felt with anyone else other than his family. And that was why he knew that he would love whatever sheâd gotten him for his birthday --- it would be thoughtful, even more thoughtful than posting a cover of their song on his birthday telling the world that they were together.
When she handed him the note, Spencer drew his bottom lip between his teeth and opened it slowly. He sighed as he read what sheâd written, biting down on his lip again to keep it from quivering. Heâd already known that her presents would be thoughtful, but this went above and beyond that. There were envelopes that he could use as pick me ups during certain moments; he looked at all of the labels and smiled a little tearfully. Even when Marley wasnât there with him, sheâd be there anyway.Â
âI love you.â He repeated it a few times as he kissed her, âIâm in love with you. Thank you, babe.â There were still some unshed tears in his eyes that he wiped with the back of his hand. He was sure he would cry at some point during the day again, anyway.Â
âAre you gonna help me put them up in my room?â Spencer asked about the Lover framed quotes, knowing he didnât need help. He was taller and could generally reach a larger area; but he still wanted to tease. âOr should we put them up here, in my living room, for all who come to see?âÂ
