Cody hadn’t expected to come home to her shoe box apartment to find the door broken open. The side of the door’s wood is splintered and the lock ripped out and the hacker suddenly feels sick. Pushing her way inside, having to kick a chair or two out of the way to get in only to find the entire place has been trashed. Thankfully she keeps her laptop with her at all times but there’s something she can’t carry with her that means more to her than her laptop. When Cody was nine years old, her and her adoptive father spent an entire year on building a computer from scratch. Even after all these years and it now being too outdated to use she still kept it, still made sure to pack it when she ran from New Orleans. Entering her room, her heart drops into her stomach as she finds that very computer smashed to pieces. Scrambling over to it, she tries to assess the damage and the more she looks the less likely it appears it can ever be fixed and there’s tears streaming down her face before she can stop them. Hearing someone else enter, she can’t bring herself to even look at them, holding computer parts in shaky hands. ‘ Go away. ‘
Exiting from a door that housed the home of a family friend, Spencer caught sight of Cody disappearing into her apartment and was about to say something when she noticed the state of the door. "Cody, what ---" she looked around before her eyes fell on the other, a frown etched into her forehead, "happened?"
Huffing a small laugh, Zeke picked up the handmade ball, tossing it in his hands slowly. “Don’t go giving me ideas, Spencer. How much would it take to rip your little family to pieces do you think? I could probably do it without your little book. Does my reputation proceed me? Or are you just paying damn close attention to me? It’s not faith.. This is, I can’t find any other witch that isn’t spitting blood and crying out for dead people, so you’re it. Congratulations.” Arching a dark brow, her look is returned, just as blankly. “You’d know all about that, right?”
"You wouldn't stand a chance. If you're judging the rest of my family by my standards then you're pretty much fucking wrong. I'm the weak link, not them. You wouldn't get close enough to even consider ripping them apart. Remember the results of that virus? That was a watered down epidemic. Now consider what it would do to a person if it was actually concentrated. That's what awaits you if you even think about going after anyone in my family, or the coven for that matter. We gave you that hunter's blessing, and I'm sure they'd be more than happy to take it off you then you can see who would be laughing then. Spoiler alert: not you." Spencer ignored his comment and took a step closer to him, close enough that she could yank her ball back from his grasp. "People choose to leave me and if that makes me pathetic then fine, but you? You had people willing to stay and be a part of your life and you threw that all away. That makes you pathetic and fucking idiotic. At least you had people that wanted you enough to stay."

The impact simply had his brows furrowing, the hunter a little shocked that she’d actually thrown it, though, he shouldn’t have doubted it. Back of his hand wiping over his forehead, Zeke rolled his eyes. “I know what a fucking grimoire is for, asshat. Honestly, for someone who’s stuck on sarcasm, you don’t pick up on it to well, do you? I’m not about to steal the fucking thing, what fucking use would screwing up your family be to me? I’m asking you where it is, so we can go get the damn thing and you can work out what the fuck is happening.” Sighing, his hands liting slightly in frustration as he growled out, hoping it would keep him from simply shooting her. “Don’t even think about bringing her up around me again.”
Spencer slightly smirked at the impact. It was about time she got the hunter back for all the shit he had given her, though she doubted an elastic band ball to the head would be enough, but it was a start. "Oh I don't know, maybe it's your psychopath tendencies. I'm sure you'd get a kick out of destroying more lives. It's what you do, isn't it? So now you have faith in me and my abilities? Fuck sake, Zeke. You're giving me whiplash and, quite frankly, freaking me the fuck out." Getting back up on her feet, she simply just looked at him. "Don't be pathetic."

"Oh, my bad. I didn't know there were requirements for those who wanted to fucking help, but by all means; continue insulting me. It's not like I should give a shit anyway. Like you said, I'm barely sick. I should just kick back, relax and enjoy the show knowing full well that I can do something about this."

I just can't remember where I read it hence, by a process of elimination, I've already figured out that it wasn't from my Googling, which means I read it from a book from within the coven. I just need to focus and clear my mind so I can dig for the memory. --- Except I've never been successful at that in my lessons. Ain't life fucking grand. I'm going to die anyway so why should this be any fucking different?"
“Take your best shot.” Zeke stood perfectly still, watching as she packed up the laptop. “Seemingly sounds confident. – What did you find? God damn it, Spencer. I don’t give a shit about your fucking grimoire and what’s fucking in it. Not about to take up lessons in magic. But it’s probably going to be a sight more helpful than fucking google. Yours, and any other we can get out hands on.””
Spencer picked up the ball she had created from rubber bands and tossed it at his head before throwing herself down on the couch, her head spinning as a result of her movements. "You don't need lessons in magic to use a fucking grimoire, dickwad. It holds centuries of knowledge and secrets that should never be put into the wrong hands and I'm not about to betray my family line just so you can have a peek. Just leave, Zeke. Don't you have a puppy to run after?"
“Got a working phone?”
"Nope, I don't. I tried hacking the block but whoever put it in place is a fucking beast on the keyboard. The most I can do is Google a bunch of random shit in the hopes that I find something that I can use. Anything that remotely resembles a call or messaging system is blocked."
“The hell’s Google got to do with this?”
"Google is the most extensive search engine ever created, it's where you go if you need to find answers. Not to mention, I personally hacked modified the server so nothing was hidden from me yet I’m still met with nothing of use. What the hell do you think Google has got to do with this?"
