Happy? New Year

It deeply troubles me that in 2018 we’re still allowing race, religion, class etc. to divide us. When are we going to wake up and realize that our planet earth is only getting more diverse with time and there’s absolutely nothing we can do about that? There is more to me than the color of my skin and my cultural upbringing. Will you forever allow disparity and the misconceptions of things you are ignorant of to hurt your head and heart, and take you to your grave? Let us please at least respect each other’s differences. You must respect it before you can understand it to accept it. You can’t be screaming at God every Friday night in your 4 hour long prayer meeting to heal the world when you’re the one causing the pain. If you’re going to allow these things to stand between us… the next SpaceX falcon 9 launches this Friday.

Friendship & Support

When we think of a friend, we think of a “ride or die”; someone we can depend on for security and strength. We often associate the word ‘support’ with friendship. However, we must know when to draw that line. Integrity plays an integral part in friendship. If it is that you skip to your friends’ every beats; the good notes as well as the bad notes…your intentions may be good, but you’re definitely not being a real friend. Real friends should not encourage or support each other in wrongdoings. I too am guilty of being that real “ride or die” friend; the partner in crime type. When I really think about it, inciting/rejoicing in evil together brings us nowhere. We are like spinning tops in mud. Let’s ignite peaceful flames. Let’s encourage each other to respond to conflict in a passive manner. And any problems we face that are too much of a burden to bear, just place it at the foot of the cross. Remember, true friendship is not supportive in iniquity.

Dear 2016

I thank you immensely for what you have made of me. You’ve turned a frailty in a fortress, and a fragile heart into one of great strength. I’ve burnt bridges, crossed hurdles and swam across treacherous waters. You’ve reminded me that through God, everything is possible but without work faith is dead. I came a girl and I am leaving a young lady after God’s own heart. I perceived, believed and achieved. When I stood in the storm and the wind didn’t blow my way, I adjusted my sails. Through it all, I remembered to stay hopeful and humble. And when I came face to face with the devil, I remained ever calm and prayerful and killed him with kindness. I’ve learnt that hate is too much of a burden to bear, and so, I’ve let it go. Life is too short to hold on to such ills. My life isn’t perfect, but I’m truly content. I’ve been blessed with a wonderful family, great friends and faithful supporters. I await the new year with great anticipation and optimism.

Choose Happiness

We spend a lot of time dwelling on the negativity in our lives; loves who have hurt us, friends who have betrayed us, misjudgment by acquaintances…

You would only begin experiencing true happiness when you learn to let all of these go. Carrying these loads builds up hatred in your heart and makes you a bitter and miserable being. What has been broken shall be mended. Those persons have fallen off your radar for a solid reason. And mere opinions don’t define you and shouldn’t even bother you. Life is short. Too short to stress over such trivialities. There is more to life. Focus on what IS going right and give thanks for that. Live with a grateful heart rather than one filled with regret, sorrow and hatred. Shake it all off and place it at the foot of the cross. These aren’t your burdens to bear. Happiness is an internal affair, please don’t go seeking it elsewhere. It begins with you.
