Two weeks ago, I had the opportunity to cover YouthHack Manila’s Start Up Challenge 2015 in Xavier School. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to catch Day 1′s speakers, but at least I got to listen the different teams’ pitches on Day 2!

It’s amazing to see students churn out ideas that can potentially solve our nation’s most pressing problems. There’s so much promise in our youth!

Kudos to the YouthHack MNL organizing team for this event!

Side note: I also met younger members of the Pisay community through this competition. It’s great to see how they aspire to integrate STEM, entrepreneurship and social action. :) Man, now I’m wishing YouthHack existed when I was still in High School! Haha!

Diary ng P...ilay.

For the past 3 months that I’ve been recovering from my ankle fracture, na-realize ko na ang pagiging pilay pala ay parang experiencing heartbreak lang.

1. Minsan talaga, hindi mo namamalayang nahuhulog ka na pala. Pero ang mas masaklap diyan, wala palang sasalo sayo.

2. Araw-araw mong iispin na gusto mo na talagang mag-move (on), kaso ang hirap at sakit pala.

3. Hindi mo mapagkatiwalaan ang sarili mo na maiwang mag-isa. Kakailanganin mo ng crutch to lean on for (moral) support.

4. Inuulit-ulit mo sa sarili mo na NEVER, as in EVER ka nang mahuhulog ulit.

5. Pero ika nga nila, “time heals all wounds”... crack sa buto man yan, o nagdurugong puso.

It's great! :) although I've missed the first 2 weeks of school because I'm immobilized in a cast due to a nasty ankle fracture. :( I aim to fly back to HK around Chinese New Year. May I ask who this is? hahaha :)) but I hope to see you around too! :D

My friends and I at HKU Fiesta (Filipino Expats Students Association from The University of Hong Kong) are organizing a service trip to Zambales this January 2015 in partnership with One Million Lights PH.

Last month, I was able to visit the Philippine School of Interior Design (PSID)'s exhibit done by the advanced graduates of the Class of 2014. The exhibit was called "Globalscapes", and it was amazing how they integrated cultural themes into their designs.

I especially liked Sweden, because I'm all for functionality and I'm SUCH a huge fan of Ikea. HAHAHA. And of course, Japan, Spain, US and the countries which used our pots for their set-ups. :)
