So ya know how anti-choice trashcans say "what if the cure for cancer lives in the mind of a fetus that gets aborted?"

But since fetuses already knowing advanced medical sciences aren’t a thing, I figured I’d provide some more valid alternatives:

What if the cure for cancer lives in the mind of someone who has a “black sounding” name and gets their school application thrown out?

What if the cure for cancer lives in the mind of someone who accidentally becomes pregnant where abortion is illegal or very difficult to access and they are forced to quit the sciences to raise the child?

What if the cure for cancer lives in the mind of a fat person whose credibility in the medical field is destroyed because they are assumed to be “unhealthy” and a hypocrite?

What if the cure for cancer lives in the mind of a person who starves to death?

What if the cure for cancer lives in the mind of someone who is murdered by drones or police?

What if the cure for cancer lives in the mind of someone who is raped and cannot continue their research due to trauma?

What if the cure for cancer lives in the mind of someone who is killed in a shooting because some below average teen boy couldn’t get laid?

I mean if you wanna talk about real life actual things that prevent scientific advancement look no further than capitalism, misogyny, ableism, racism, violence, oppression. But I guess that doesn’t allow you to control people’s bodies and push your gross agenda.

I'm proud to be lost, to not know exactly what happens next, to be confused, to be less than okay, to be afraid.

I'm proud to be lost because it means that I still have something to find, places to travel, people to meet, feelings to feel.

I'm proud to be lost because it means I'm still on an adventure, that I'm allowed to make mistakes, that I'm still, human.

But I'm mostly proud that every experience that came before me, whether good or bad, shaped me to feel more human than I ever felt before. So, that's pretty cool?

I made this track almost exactly a year ago with a video (for Music Mondays), but I wasn't really happy with how the video turned out. Superman prevents a suicide in “All Star Superman”

"I have struggled with depression ever since I was ten years old. It had crippled me emotionally. I was 27 years old, no college degree, no job, and no will to live. I decided to kill myself after Christmas.

And then my sister’s boyfriend loaned me these comics. Superman is dying of radiation poisoning and is trying to complete all of his tasks before he dies, but he still takes the time to save a young girl who is about to jump off a building.

I cried for hours after reading this. I identified with that girl so much, and I could almost hear Superman telling me that I’m stronger than I think. Now, every time my depression starts to rear its ugly head, I just repeat his words and imagine him hugging me when I’m standing on the edge. It works better than any medication or therapy I’ve ever had. Now I’m in college and at the top of my class. I have friends. I have a life. And I don’t care that he’s a fictional comic book character. He still saved me.”
