I think it’s fantastic that Horikoshi decided to include this bit of seemingly insignificant dialogue. In the beginning of the manga, Izuku had always been weary of Katsuki, timid and awkward, afraid to interact with him in any way that might anger him. 193 chapters later, Izuku can approach Katsuki as casually as he would Kirishima or Iida. It’s great to see that Izuku isn’t intimated by Katsuki any more, as many like to claim to paint their relationship in a negative light. Instead, Izuku is speaking to him confidently and warmly, even while Katsuki gives-out a hostile “Quit complimenting me!” It’s great to see how far they’ve come, and it’s even more great to remember that they’ll go even further than that plus ultra.
(Also, Katsuki really needs to stop resisting. He’s gonna be friends with the nerd, whether he likes it or not. Just accept your fate.)
