tumblrs policy is kinda wishy washy where like "artistic nudity" and "mature content" is fine but "sexually explicit material" isnt and they can kinda arbitrarily decide which one they think something is. They wanted to bring users back when Twitter (which was more accepting of NSFW artists) started tanking but not Actually fully bring back the "go nuts show nuts" policy because they're afraid of the iOS app store or advertisers or whoever is processing payments for merch and ad-free subscriptions getting mad at them.
