No idea if I'll be able to get to the rest of this but I needed to spit this out.

My head canon is that Miguel stepped into Gabri's father's role because in that verse she would have gone into his mother's care. And given Miguel's relationship with her, he couldn't let that happen to her.

Whether or not that caused the failure cascade that obliterated that universe remains to be seen. However, that means the City of Heroes universe is of particular interest to Miguel. Cause if Paragon can return so could others, yeah?
