Now that I've offically beat P4G on my own, delved into a few sidegames and am currently on new game+, I can say with certainty: I do NOT regret switching from P5 to P4 cos my love for Kanji has been driving me INSANE, HE IS SUCH A GOOD BOY. But yeah, you can see Yu spouting my nonsense.

I've picked up a pen for the first time since the start of May and I kinda lost it. These arent even half the sketches and I plan on cleaning up most of these.

Btw., the Kannao hug is loosely based on a scene from the fic "Picking up the Pieces" by drak0nis on AO3 cos I ADORE it.

Lately I've been so frustrated that I just didn't have the energy to draw during the week at ALL, so I pushed myself to stat and finish ONE freaking drawing at least.

Technically used a base as inspo but went my own way lmao.

Anyways, thinking about a "A Whisker Away" where Naoto is supposed to solve a murder but gets turned into a cat, then uses her new cat form to get intel from ppl, only to discover her classmates deepest insecurities and helps em bette themselves.

Spoilers(?) People over on Insta saw me losing my mind over this. I dunno how tf ppl do comics on the regular, ESPECIALLY with backgrounds, jesus christ. Anyways! Thoughts of P4Re made me really want rival romance routes, so I was like, I could totally just take the Naoto romance events and make it KanNao lmao. (also, started this way before the teaser dropped) So I had to do the cute af scene with the female uniform, Kanji would lose his damn mind hahaha.

The differences between Daisuke in the Japanese version and Davis in the American English dub

Of the many changes made from the Japanese version of Adventure and 02 to the American English dub, Daisuke sticks out as the one character who got the most severe alterations by landslide, to the point a very large number of American English dub Davis’s major dialogue lines say the complete opposite of what Daisuke was originally saying.

Even among those who do acknowledge the changes, I still find that the amount of impact these changes had is often underestimated – a lot of these changes are often played off as “exaggerations of his existing behavior”, and not changing so many things to the degree where it really is reasonable to make a case they shouldn’t be considered the same character at all, outside of sharing a few base outline points.

I think a big reason for the spread of the fallacy that “the American English dub didn’t change very much” is that there weren’t that many aggressive changes to the background plot, but in a series like Adventure and 02 where the story lives and breathes by its characterization, repeatedly making dialogue changes across the entire series can mean a major change to the whole series. And, of course, because Daisuke is the lead protagonist of 02, whose way of life and thinking is key to the series themes, changes this aggressive naturally lead to major changes in the series itself.

While the Adventure characters are all written to subvert character stereotypes (no, really), I feel this is particularly enhanced for Mimi, whose surface demeanor and the first impression you get from her suggest an almost opposite character to whom she actually is.

A meta and analysis on Yagami Taichi

Being the face of Adventure and arguably the rest of the franchise, Taichi has the honor of being an important figure in the realm of shounen anime overall, which has the unfortunate side effect of very often being described with things that don’t actually match him at all – the way people often talk about him (especially mainstream press) tends to portray him like a stereotypical shounen hero who charges aggressively into everything and is hot-blooded all of the time. That’s not…quite on the mark.

I think “impulsive” is certainly a correct way to describe him, but in a very different way than one might think – and, in fact, Taichi is much more of a multifaceted character than he’s often pigeonholed as. How? Well, let’s talk about it!

Honestly, when it comes to Digimon and Shipping, I am such a basic bitch. I mean look at my OTPs for the first 4 seasons:

Adventure: Taiora (Taichi and Sora) [Fun Fact: This was my FIRST ship. Ever.]

Zero Two: Daiyako (Daisuke and Miyako) [BRING ON THE HATE KENYAKO FANS!]

Tamers: Rukato (Takato and Ruki) [Yes, I like this more than Jurato. Juri is just… bland imo… so is Ryo. BRING ON THE HATE!]

Frontier: Takumi (Takuya and Izumi) [Seriously, the show teases it enough that it might as well be canon.]

I haven’t watch much of Savers/Data Squad (Savers sounds like a dumb subtitle jfc, Data Squad sounds better imo) or Xros Wars/Fusion (given that I’ve heard a lot of bad things about it, and the whole “MetalGreymon that isn’t MetalFUCKINGGreymon” thing.) but I imagine if I actually liked them, the ships would be like… Yosaru, Akaki, and Tagiru/Airu (Tagairu?).

Basically, I ship the gogglehead with the primary girl? Lame, I know.but i can’t help it if I find them cute :P

Digimon creator confirms Sorato marriage, disproves Takari marriage

V-Jump 2002: “Did Yamato and Sora get married? And what about Takeru and Hikari!?”

Hiromi Seki: “Yamato and Sora got married. They began a relationship at Christmas in 02 episode 38. After that, their love developed into marriage. Takeru and Hikari didn’t get married. I’m sorry.”

Hiromi Seki is the Toei Animation producer of the first two Digimon series, as well as the co-creator – along with series director Hiroyuki Kakudou. There is now irrefutable evidence of both creators of Digimon Adventure and 02 confirming the Sorato marriage (where Sorato was foreshadowed in the first season to be a surprise revelation in an originally planned epilogue). Seki confirmed the Sorato marriage back in 2002, answering fans’ questions in an issue of Japanese anime/manga magazine V-Jump, but I’ve never found a scan of the actual interview until now. Kakudou confirmed that the Sorato marriage was planned since the series’ conception and more in 2013.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if the infamous “02 Finale Poster” was in the same issue of V-Jump as the above interview. An artist for the magazine could’ve easily drawn it to include Takari, just because a fan had asked a question about them – so there’s relevance there. But in addition to the fact that Hikari wasn’t originally supposed to be a Chosen Child (and therefore not a huge part of the series), Takari was also exaggerated in the English dub. (The same can be said of Taiora, while the opposite can be said of Sorato.) However, Takari is still the most popular Digimon pairing in Japan – despite not being canon.

I just found funny how much focus the give to Davis/Daisuke jelousy of Takeru and how even in Tri they made that scene where Takeru catchs Hikari and she blushes just to not made them a Couple, it feels funny and mean at the same time

I recently contacted (and posted about) Digimon co-creator and series director of the first two Digimon series: Hiroyuki Kakudou.

Well, because some people seemed genuinely interested, I decided to ask him some more questions. This post is strictly from a production standpoint. I’m not going…

I’m not in the Digimon fandom anymore but this post interests me. I’m reading it and I just keep questioning myself if this is real or not. It all feels so foreign to me. Taichi/Sora was my universal OTP for half my lifetime. I’ll even shamefully admit that I watched 01 in three different languages (Japanese, English, and Spanish) in it’s entirety because I was curious on how different the dialogue was during my favorite Taiora scenes.

I have absolutley no problem with what the original creator ships. I’m not the type of person who throws tantrums over what parings should be canon or tries to belittle other pairings to make my own look better.^^; And truthfully, I love Sorato too. (Although I shipped it in 01 as a crack couple.) My only gripe is that even after reading this post, I still don’t see Sorato in 01. I mean I don’t see the “foreshadowing” at all regardless of what the creator says he ships. Couldn’t the writers at least have had Sora and Yamato interact with each other a little more? I feel like Sora and Jyou or even Sora and Takeru spoke more to each other then Yamato and Sora ever did. My other gripe is: Why did the writers put so much emphasis on Taichi and Sora’s bond in 01? Even in the novels, the author talked about Taichi and Sora’s bond. (And yes, I know the novels are technically not canon.) And then we have that movie, “Diablomon Strikes Back” with Taiora ship tease even after it was already confirmed that Sorato was canon. There had to be at least one writer on the team who shipped Taiora. I get that Taichi and Sora are best friends and maybe that’s why they have more screen time then others but still…

Anyway, this interview is really interesting. It goes to show you that no matter how much evidence your pairing has or how sure you are that your couple is canon, that doesn’t mean your ship IS going to become canon or that it should have been. (And as a Taiora fan, I graciously accept Sorato as endgame. XP ) People need to stop their nasty ship wars and hating on rival ships for real. For all you know, that tiny rival ship you laughed at and thought had no chance in Hell could suddenly sink your own ship without so much as a warning.

In the end, it’s the original creator who has the final say and not the fans. Remember it.
