That was how you and Daniela were with each other. Everyone could see it. Even you could see it.
It was near impossible for you to act normal all the time, act as though she had no affect on you when in reality it was the complete opposite.
Every time she would brush past you in the choreography, and would always gravitate towards you in photos, you struggled to keep your emotions off your face and out of your voice and actions.
The fans noticed quickly, picking up on every glance and small smile you shared together. One night, you both were sitting in the living room, snuggled together on the sofa with Daniela’s head tucked against your chest as you both scrolled mindlessly on your phones. Eventually, Daniela laughs quietly and lifts her head to show you her phone, which was showing a thread of many of the times you both were acting like a couple together.
“Look, they’re saying we’re like a couple. Isn’t that funny?” Daniela grins, resting her head back on your chest. You smile softly in response, humming faintly.
“Yeah.” You murmur softly, and your lack of energy causes Daniela to lift her head again.
“Hey, you okay?” She asks delicately, switching her phone off and shifting around slightly to look at you better.
“Tired.” You smile gently, your hand around her shoulders tapping softly. “Didn’t sleep well last night I guess.”
“You should’ve said, idiot.” She smiles warmly, playfully whacking your shoulder. “Go on, go to bed.” She says as she moves off you, shooing you away teasingly.
Reluctantly, you get up and drag yourself towards the stairs, but not before looking over your shoulder to call back to her.
“‘Night Y/N, hope you sleep a bit better.” She calls back, smiling that same comforting smile she always did back at you. You smile back and head up to your room.
Once in your room, you shut the door with a gentle click and drop on to your bed, groaning in light annoyance. You roll on to your back and stare up at the ceiling, quickly getting lost in your thoughts.
After a while, you’re snapped out of your reverie by a quiet knock on your bedroom door.
“Y/N? Are you still up?” The voice, Manon’s, called out quietly. You hum softly and roll off your bed, padding towards your door to open it.
“What’s up Manz?” You ask softly, huffing dramatically as she pushes past you and sits on your bed.
“What’s up with you? Your light has been on for three hours since I went to the bathroom earlier, and Dani said you went to bed.” She states, watching you pointedly. You groan softly and shut your door.
“Just been… thinking, I guess.” You sigh, dropping back down on your bed. “I just- I hate that I like her, y’know? She clearly doesn’t feel the same and like, earlier, she showed me some thread of us being all couple-y and said it was funny.” You ramble tiredly, head resting on Manon’s lap as she lounges back on your bed.
“You think too hard sometimes dude.” She teases softly, looking down at you. “Seriously though, and not to feed your delusions or whatever, but she isn’t as touchy with the rest of us as she is with you. Surely that’s something? Like, maybe she does like you back.” She continues more seriously.
“No dude, I’m serious. If she could glue herself to you, I bet she would.” Manon cuts you off. “She’s just… and I hate to diss my girl, but she can be a bit dumb with love stuff. I mean, we saw her ex.”
You laugh softly despite yourself.
“I dunno Manz. I feel like a love-struck teenager, I hate it.” You hum, playing with a loose thread of your bedding.
“Well, be that then. Just tell her, I’ve been trying to get you to for ages.” She teases, making you groan and roll off her, sitting up.
“Goodnight Manon.” You grin, softly shoving her away.
“What? You don’t want my wisdom or something?”
Thankfully, she relents, laughing as she walks out, shutting your light off before she leaves.
The next morning, your blaring alarm gets you up, much to your dismay. You huff to yourself and slap your phone, turning the alarm off before rolling out of your bed and traipsing your way down to the kitchen.
As usual, you were the first up, so you start the coffee pot and lean back against the counter, dragging your hands down your face as you slowly wake up.
It doesn’t take long for the coffee to be ready, and you grab your mug to pour the coffee in, taking a sip and wincing instantly at the temperature, cursing under your breath.
You quietly make your way to the living room and curl into the sofa slightly, cradling the hot mug in your hands.
You sit quietly for a while, lost in your thoughts again and sipping your coffee periodically, when Lara and Megan walk in, not too loud but enough to knock you out of your thoughts.
“Morning.” You call out to them both, Lara smiling at you as she heads into the kitchen and Megan joining you on the sofa.
“Is the coffee fresh?” Lara asks, poking her head back into the living room. You simply nod in response, clearly still tired.
“I swear coffee just doesn’t work on you.” Megan comments playfully, sitting so her back is against your side and she reaches for the TV remote to turn on a show. You laugh softly, loosely slinging your free arm around her shoulders.
Eventually, everyone makes their way down into the living room, save for Daniela, with everyone watching the show Megan put on. After a few minutes more of watching the TV, Daniela comes down and your attention is on her immediately, smiling warmly at her.
“G’morning Dani.” You call over to her softly, not noticing the look of slight annoyance on her face.
“Morning.” She responds, quietly padding over and sitting on your other side. Almost instinctively, you retract your arm from around Megan’s shoulders, much to the younger girl’s dismay, and hold your mug in your other hand, draping your arm around Daniela’s shoulders instead.
“Did you sleep better last night? Manz said your light was on for ages after you went up.” She murmurs softly, her chin resting on your shoulder.
“Y-yeah, just took a while to fall asleep.” You nod gently, cursing yourself internally for stuttering.
You glance away from Daniela for a moment, only to meet Manon’s eyes, who smirks teasingly at you and in response you roll your eyes and look back at Daniela.
“You sleep okay?” You return the question, huffing playfully when she takes your coffee and finishes it. “I was drinking that.” You mutter dramatically.
“I slept well. And no you weren’t, it was basically cold.” She teases, leaning forward to place the mug down. “D’you wanna go to the mall with me later? I need more skincare and I trust your opinion.”
“You mean you trust my wallet?” You laugh softly, agreeing anyway. As if you’d refuse Daniela anything.
“So I was thinking we go at like…ten?” She hums, ignoring your comment.
You grin softly, nodding. “Sure, okay.”
“Looks like someone’s finally awake.” Sophia calls over to you lightheartedly, and you flip her off in response, causing everyone to laugh at you.
As promised, as soon as it reached 10 o’clock, you and Daniela were out the door and heading to her car, a gorgeous red Mustang. Once in her car, she starts driving towards the nearest mall and you connect your phone to the aux cord, playing whatever was already playing.
The drive to the mall, albeit short, was silent, save for both of you singing along to whatever song happened to be playing.
When you reach the mall, Daniela manages to park close to the entrance and you both quickly exit her car. You make it to the front of her car first, so you wait patiently for her, and once she reaches you, she links her arm with yours and starts pulling you along.
“Calm down girl, the mall isn’t going anywhere.” You laugh softly, yet you keep up with her anyway.
Once you enter the mall, Daniela makes a beeline straight towards Sephora and then towards the skincare. As she looks around and grabs what she needs, you linger behind her, just following like a lost puppy.
“You don’t have to follow me, y’know?” She teases, glancing over her shoulder to see you trailing behind her. You simply shrug in response, your hands in your jacket pockets, at which she giggles softly, shaking her head as she continues browsing.
After what felt like an eternity, Daniela finally gets everything she needs and you both head to the counter to pay. As you wait in the queue, Daniela links her arm with yours again and rests her head against your shoulder.
“Want me to hold the basket?” You offer softly, already reaching for it. Daniela smiles and lets you take it, leaning more against your side now.
Thankfully, it doesn’t take too long to reach the till and you place the shopping basket on the side. As the worker rings everything up, she looks between you both for a moment.
“I just wanna say, you two are such a cute couple.” The worker comments, smiling politely.
You smile awkwardly and go to correct her but Daniela beats you to it.
“No, we aren’t dating. Just close friends.” She laughs, nudging you. Your smile flickers for a brief moment but you quickly recover and nod along, choosing to ignore the look the cashier gives you as you pay.
Once you pay, you grab the bag and thank the worker before walking out.
“Can you believe she thought we were together? Crazy.” Daniela laughs, bumping your shoulder playfully. You laugh awkwardly in response, nodding and murmuring a soft “Yeah, crazy”.
“Anyway, can we go to Hot Topic? I wanna buy more shirts.” You change the topic swiftly, already heading towards the escalator to go up to the store. Daniela either doesn’t notice you quickly changing the topic, or chooses to ignore it, and lets you lead the way up to the store.
Once in the Hot Topic, you unlink your arm from Daniela’s and start browsing through all the different band and graphic shirts.
Similar to before, Daniela trails behind you in the store, breaking away every so often to look at the jewellery.
You don’t take as long to grab the things you want, somehow getting what you want before Daniela has finished looking at all the jewellery. You saunter up to her, standing just behind her and looking at the rings she was looking at as well.
“You thinking of getting any?” You ask softly, laughing when she jumps slightly. Daniela turns and whacks your arm.
“Don’t sneak up on me like that. Idiot.” She huffs dramatically. “And no, I don’t think so. Not really my style.”
“Well, I’m ready to go pay.” You hum softly, smiling faintly as she links arms with you again.
You make it to the counter, thankfully no queue this time, and you place the shirts down.
As you pay and take the now bagged clothes, Daniela stays attached to your arm at all times.
As you walk out, Daniela’s gaze wanders to the food court and she starts wordlessly dragging you over.
“Okay then. You hungry or something?” You laugh softly, to which Daniela rolls her eyes and pulls you along into the Jollibee. She heads to the screen to order, clearly having something in mind for herself.
“What would you like?” She hums glancing over her shoulder as you stand behind her.
“Just… a wrap meal, please.” You hum as she selects one for you, glancing back at you to check, at which you nod softly.
Once both your meals are selected, Daniela reaches back for your card. You laugh softly but hand it to her for her to pay. When she grabs the receipt with your order number on it, she passes your card back to you and you both wait off to the side of the counter for your food to get made.
As you stand there, Daniela leans back into you, taking her shopping bag and grabbing your arm to sling it around her shoulders, which you of course let her do. You look down at the receipt to check your order number and Daniela seems to get lost in her thoughts, one of her hands resting atop yours.
Finally, your order number gets called and Daniela makes no motion to move, so you gently unlatch from her to grab the tray of your food.
Now out of her head, Daniela leads you towards a more secluded booth to eat, at which you slide into the seat first and she slides in opposite you. You both grab your meals off the tray and start eating.
You finish first and lean back in the leather of the booth seat, taking a sip of your drink, your gaze resting on Daniela. As she eats, she feels your eyes on her and she looks up, meeting your eyes instantly, and as she does, your face heats up slightly and you look away. She smiles softly and looks away as well, going back to her food.
Not long later, Daniela finishes her food too and leans back as you did.
“Y/N?” She murmurs softly, nerves lacing her tone. You look back at her, concerned.
“You okay?” You ask, sitting up more, eyes locked on her face.
“Yeah. I’m…I don’t know actually. I’ve been thinking, and I realised something. I just don’t wanna ruin anything cause I’m terrified that I’m reading it wrong and-” She rambles but you cut her off gently.
“Dani, you can tell me anything. I’d never judge you.”
“Yeah, no, I know. I-I think I’m gay.” She hesitantly admits, at which you smile fondly.
“Dani.” You murmur softly, almost cooing at her. “Thank you for telling me.” You smile warmly, reaching to hold her hand, but she doesn’t meet you.
“That’s not all. I…I like you. I realised earlier when that worker commented about us being a cute couple or whatever. I just hope you don’t hate me-”
“Dani,” you laugh softly. “I feel the same. I have for the longest time. Even the fans could tell.”
“Seriously?” She smiles warmly, finally taking your hand in hers. “Cause if you’re pranking me, that is evil.”
“I’m serious, I swear.” You grin. “Well, I don’t wanna waste anymore time so, will you be my girlfriend?”
Daniela laughs and squeezes your hand, nodding.
Later, once you both make it home, you walk into the house hand in hand, both grinning like morons. As you walk in Sophia and Manon look up, notice the looks on your faces and both cheer.
“Finally! Only took you both, what, three years?” Manon laughs.
