I was supposed to go to Zayns concert this upcoming week and to be fair, I’m happy he postponed it. Mentally, I’m not ready to acknowledge that 1D is never going to come back, i’m not ready to hear him sing 1D songs and i’m not ready to acknowledge that Liam will never go to a Zayn tour and support him.

god… i hoped he’d have more time to do things right, to change and to get better.

child stars dying young directly or indirectly as a result of fame-related trauma is just so especially sad. for me it’s the tragedy of how kids don’t really know what they’re signing up for when they ask to be famous, especially back in 2008. liam’s mistakes, addiction, and bad decisions, are all so inarguably tied into his career and the carelessness of the entertainment industry. the 31 year old man that just died is the same 16yo boy that was given drugs and alcohol to keep him quiet while he was being overworked and exploited. corey haim, river phoenix, judy garland, and so many more. you can think what you want about liam and have your own opinions, but don’t lose sight of the larger picture that he was a victim of.

the fact that the first time zayn has been included in a 1d official sign off in almost 10 years was in a tribute to liam mourning his death… i havent known a moment of peace

they were all brothers. they are all brothers.

no one, and i mean no one, will ever be able to understand those years and growing into adults in the bubble they were the way those five will. for five years, they saw each other more than they saw their own families. they became family. they share something so special that people nor circumstances will ever break— they shared their youth. they shared a flash of time together that shaped them from boys into men. and as much as we’ve talked about how integral liam was to our childhoods and growth through this band, a piece of the other four boys’ childhoods and youth also died yesterday. a piece of their history died yesterday. a face to their personal memories died yesterday. and it’s devastating.

they found a home in each other when they were so far away from home, and i cannot even begin to imagine the grief they are feeling and will continue to feel.

walking in the wind has the perfect line like “if you’re lost, just look for me. you’ll find me in the region of the summer stars” and i know for a lifetime to come those four guys will be living that out as the years go on.

my entire chest aches for them. they deserve all the space and grace during this delicate time.

I never thought the next thing the One Direction Instagram account was going to post was a statement about Liam’s passing. We all wanted them to post about all 5 boys being on stage again, releasing music again, just having fun and being together again…it wasn’t meant to be.

Simon Cowells post made me sad. Do i like him? no. Do i think its his fault? partially yes, he is the one who managed these kids and led them to addiction. Liam deserved more and I hope this shines light in bad management, over work and mental health. We shouldn’t make children famous, at all. They don’t have the mental capacity for this, and it’s worse if they’re exploited.

Our favourite story about Liam was that in his post-One Direction years he got into art, and started to do some drawing.

Word of his new hobby reached David Hockney's great-nephew, who kindly arranged for Liam to meet the man himself.

In advance of the meeting, Liam made a portrait of Hockney, and presented it to him when they did get to hang out.

Hockney was so taken with the result that he hung the portrait up in his house.

A close second favourite story? Liam and Cheryl stayed together publicly at the end of their relationship purely to piss off Dan Wootton, then Showbiz editor at The Sun, who had reported their break-up.
