The Night Before- Timothée sneaks into Y/ns room the night before their wedding.
Tomorrow is the big day. The day they share a last name and wed in front of their closest friends and family.
They wanted it intimate, just the people they truly care about, and the people who genuinely care right back, the ones who have always cared.
Y/n and Timothée are sleeping in his parents house, along with his parents, and the bridesmaids and groomsmen (two of each)
His mom and Pauline were enforcing a lot of the traditional rules, they didn't want them to see each other the day of the wedding, so when 11pm hit, they pushed them into their separate rooms, on the furthest sides of the house.
Just because they couldn't see each other doesn't mean they couldn't text… right? Timothée wasn't going to ask Pauline or his mom that question though, in case it really was some silly superstition and they took their phones.
It's currently 2am and he can't sleep, call it wedding jitters or just pure excitement and love but he's just not tired.
He sighs and grabs his phone, clicking on his and Y/ns messages.
Maud’dib 🥰- this sux :(
Y/n giggles as she sees his message pop up, she was watching a movie, trying to get herself to go to sleep but to no avail.
Timothée sends another text before Y/n could respond.
Maud’dib 🥰- if I wanna sleep with you tonight I should be able to :( we don't even believe in all that shit.
Y/n smiles and starts typing, her heart swelling at her future husband's thoughts.
Y/n🤯😍🥰🫶- it's kind of cute that they're trying to remain traditional ig
Maud’dib 🥰- it would be… if it wasn't for OUR wedding.
Another text comes in as she finishes reading that one.
Maud’dib 🥰- It feels wrong to sleep alone when I know you're in the same damn house…
Y/n🤯😍🥰🫶- yeah… you should come over here then.
Y/n🤯😍🥰🫶- QUIETLY
Maud’dib 🥰- say less
Y/n smiles as she pictures him jumping up from bed and quietly rushing across the house. She stands up and walks over to the door, slowly opening it so Pauline doesn't hear from two rooms away.
She sees Timothée basically sprinting to her door and giggles as he rushes in, his hands immediately on her waist and his lips on hers. He groans and walks her backwards over to the bed, “I missed you.” He whispers against her lips, laying her down.
“We saw each other five hours ago.” She mumbles before kissing him again, their tongues tangling together as one of his hands goes under her shirt and runs along her waist.
“Exactly.” He replies, making her giggle.
“Mmm, okay we should stop. Can’t be too loud.”
“We can be quiet.” He says and nips at her lips
“You know we can’t.” She says, one of her hands going to the nape of his neck, she raises an eyebrow and smirks at him.
Timothée groans and drops his head onto her shoulder, “You're right. We have tomorrow night anyway.”
“And the rest of our lives.” Y/n casually responds as she runs her fingers through his hair.
Timothée looks up at her and smiles, a blush creeping onto his face, “And the rest of our lives.” He repeats.
“You gonna sleep here with me?” She wonders, nudging her nose against his cheek.
He quickly nods, “Fuck yes. I think I deserve to sleep with my future wife the night before our wedding.” He hums, kissing her lips quickly before turning onto his back and pulling her to lay her head on his chest.
“It's almost 3am. At this time tomorrow, we're gonna be married.” She says
“Mrs. Chalamet.” He whispers into her hair, kissing her head as his body relaxes with her touch.
She blushes and giggles into his shirt, “Are you nervous?”
Timothée hums, “No. Are you?” he wonders, twirling a strand of her hair with his finger.
She shakes her head, “I'm excited. I'm more nervous about how you're gonna react when I walk down the aisle.”
“Why? You're gonna look beautiful, my heart is going to be out of my chest because it'll grow three sizes cause I love you so much.”
“Wow. Only three sizes?” She teases, earning a playful tug on her hair. “I hope you like my dress.”
“Oh I'm gonna love it.”
“How do you know?”
“Because it’s you wearing it.”
“You’re so corny.” She snorts, looking up at him.
“It’s true,” He shrugs, “We can get married in our pjs and I'd still think you’re the most beautiful bride ever.” He kisses her softly, smiling at her before kissing her again.
“I love you.” She says quietly, so quietly he could barely hear it.
“I love you more.” He whispers back, brushing his thumb along her cheek, “We should probably go to sleep. Gotta get married tomorrow.”
“I'll sleep much better now.” She grins, pulling the blanket fully over them, Timothée turns on his side and drapes his other arm over Y/n's stomach, drawing lazy circles that slowly lull her to sleep.
That morning, the two are dead asleep when Pauline knocks on Y/n's door. “Y/nnnn, good morning! Can I come in?”
Timothée shoots up, wiping some drool from his chin and he nudges Y/n.
“Baby.” He whispers, running his hand over her hair, he smiles as he watches her slowly wake up.
“Hello? Y/n are you up?” Pauline's voice comes through the door again.
“Oh fuck.” Y/n groans, rubbing her eyes and smiling up at Timothée.
“Good morning, beautiful.” He chuckles, “I locked the door, but I've seen her bust through one before so you better respond.” He whispers, helping her sit up.
“You're drooling.” She teases, “Hey Pauline! Give me one second!”
Timothée kisses her deeply, his hand at the nape of her neck as he slides his tongue in, humming into it.
“I gotta go, the guys are gonna see I'm not there soon.” He mumbles into her mouth, kissing her again.
She whines, “How are you gonna leave?”
Timothée stands up and gestures to the window, “Climb out, I'll just say I went for a walk or something.” He shrugs, Y/n laughs and stands up.
“You've climbed out before?” She wonders as she follows him to the window.
“Y/nnnn, you okay?”
Timothée sighs, “Please don’t kill my sister, she's been so excited to help you get ready today. And actually, yes. When I was in high school I would sneak out to go to parties, hang with friends-”
“Please don't talk about other girls on our wedding day.” She teases as he opens the window.
He chuckles and sticks a leg out the window, reaching over to kiss her one last time. “I love you, baby. I'll see you later.” He winks and climbs all the way out.
She grins and waves as he jumps down, she watches as he rushes over to the other side of the house before closing the window and finally letting Pauline in.
That’s what’s driven me with this movie the whole time, is making something about kindness. It is about kindness and goodness more than hope to me. It’s about being loved more than about hope. Hope is something outside of ourselves. We have this belief that maybe something will change in our lives. It almost denigrates the present moment, hope. And it’s not about that. It’s about being loving, being kind, and how that compassion is really the answer to everything. That’s a basic human need.
