The first time Dream dies he is a child. He falls out of the huge oak tree, that shades the marketplace of his backwater town.

The backer will say that she was sure he was not breathing.

Bad will say, it was a miracle.

And Dream will tell him, that it was a chained god, tall as a mountain, that spoke to him in a strange language and saved him.

His second death would come under much more dire circumstances. One harsh winter, hunting for anything really, far from home. He falls asleep against a tree trunk and wakes only with the first thaw.

That spring Bad will have terrible nightmares and Dream will leave before summer. The voice of the god that saved him still ringing in the back of his mind.

By summer solstice he will know the truth about the terrible deal he unwittingly made as a child.

Until Autumn he will have died two more times and made as many friends.

In Winter he will race against time and his misfortune to keep his friends safe, and a vengeful god from escaping his prison through Dream's body.

But sadly, it is not easy to back out of a deal with a god, even if you did not understand the terms of service at the time.

WooooooooH! I made this for @hiding-in-the-vault for the dreblr gift exchange! The prompt was a DTeam fantasy AU with angst and hugs.

No more context then the little blurb I wrote for it, because the only place i have any notes on it is the word vomit in Vault's DMs.
