peterisms … for the evening. ❤️
constantly. constantly taking things apart and putting them back together. breaking down (even his own) equipment just to reshape it and understand how it does what it does is fairly gratifying. he’s been doing this since childhood.
spends a fair amount of time at the cemetery. or other places of respect and mourning. the way he honors passed loved ones is by still keeping them in the loop, which means routine visits and one sided conversations.
as a (jewish) new yorker in particular , i do believe peter has an interesting way of socializing and interacting with others that non natives may find off putting. pauses in speech are his chance to jump in, or he’ll begin speaking before you get a chance to finish. could be interpreted as interruption, but he’s really just trying to bounce from topic to topic to keep things going.
yiddish does take up a lot of his vocabulary. i also do like to suggest he has an accent, however it really has to be listened for. it’ll show up in certain words (coffee, roof, water, awful.)
he’s at his happiest when doing more mundane and miscellaneous errands for anyone and everyone. spider-man will still deliver your food. he’ll help you move your furniture. he’ll be your maintenance man if yours can’t make it.
habitually holds and reads things upside down (or right side up if he’s already upside down.) he’s already used to it and finds literature and general visuals quicker to process that way. it’s also fun!
a very, very very very small percentage of new york outside of his immediate circle know what spider-man’s face looks like.
hardly uses doors. not even in a silly way, but windows and skyward entryways are a lot easier to get to within his realm of circumstance.
bodegas. hole in the wall mom and pops. he’s pretty anti big chain, intent on supporting lesser known of smaller spots. i’ve always said he’s a regular at many places like these in and out of costume. also has a solid rotation of about five safe foods he can count on.
would do anything for a hot dog.
observant. intent on being so. he’ll recognize and catch onto things about people and their interests to bring them up later.
due to being raised by an older couple, peter really prefers a lot of things the old fashioned way. be it music, methods or what some would consider to be dated technology.
very expressive. sometimes it gets him into trouble, the inability to hide his internal disagreement on something. the opposite is his love and affection are as clear as day, even when his words may not be as such.
cat person. not only has a track record of babysitting miss alpine and miss liho, but he does what he can for stray colonies. being your friendly neighborhood spider-man pertains to the animals of new york too!
i can find precise credit for this headcanon, but i’ve seen several suggestions the front spider logo is for intimidation and the back is to appear friendlier to those he’s aiming to protect.
leaves things scattered. leaves a lot unfinished. coffees and half bitten sandwiches. his closet isn’t very extensive, his apartment is scattered with tools and hardware. you’d never know this from looking at spider-man, however.
definitely overdoes his patrol routes. there’s a lot of anxiety around missing or loose ends. endless circles and just in cases until he’s satisfied.
it’s usually fitful but he can fall asleep anywhere.
talks to himself. sometimes it’s self deprecating and his own way of punishment, but he also pats himself on the back when something pays off. nice one, pete! someone’s gotta do it when you spend most of your time working alone.
