Long Live Evil by Sarah Rees Brennan
"The Knight and The Moth" German Cover
It was a great pleasure and honor to create an illustration for the German edition of The Knight and The Moth by @rmgillig.
I absolutely LOVE the book, so I wanted to create a cover worthy of it.
🌟Amazing frame was done by @alessandrafusi 🌟And a wonderful cover and edge design by @alexanderkopainski
P.S. I can't sell prints of this cover art too, unfortunately. But I will let you guys know if this changes.
Sometimes I forget I have a tumblr account and I should also share things here. So here’s one of my recent rebinds, The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig! It actually had signatures so I was able to sew my own endbands.
Originally I set out to do this all with inlays but for many reasons that was a complete failure and heat transfer vinyl does not have enough shades of blue, so I ordered a custom direct to film transfer which thankfully was a lot cheaper than actually buying a dtf printer.
Cover inspired by gothic windows, stained glass, and used the chapter header art for the moth and sword.
the knight and the moth said that belief can cradle you even as it strangles you. that holy water drowns and corrupts as easily as it cleanses. that the cathedral’s beauty is built on blood, bone, and fear. that vows mean nothing when wielded as chains. that the truest knightly virtue is the refusal to kneel to corruption; that honor is not found in obedience, but defiance. that both moth and man will burn themselves on false light because the darkness is unbearable. that salvation may come from the hands of the damned. that freedom can feel like heresy. that naming yourself is the loudest prayer you will ever speak. that the only divinity worth worshiping is love itself.
Dropping the latest Sketch-a-Wish, voted on by my lovely Patreon members for July, featuring Sybil, Rory and the gargoyle from THE KNIGHT AND THE MOTH by Rachel Gillig!
This one is a symbolic interpretation of one of the scenes in the book where Sybil divines for Rory. The gargoyle dragging Sybil down, yet clinging to her desperately because he wishes to escape with her. Rory is gently pulling them both up, away from their old ties to the church, yet not forcing it. This art has been officially licensed and prints are available in both shops. (link in bio!)
we need to instill a new storytelling rule of thumb into people called "show don't tweet" where we encourage them to put all pertinent canon information into the actual story and its official supplemental material instead of using reddit AMAs as lore dlcs
never met a sentence i couldn't make incredibly long
Never met a sentence which I, in my over wrought sensibilities, bloated vocabulary, and only vague grasp of grammatical rules, could not hubristically endevour to make incredibly long
Never in my life have I encountered heretofore a string of words that, owing to my artistic and aesthetic sensibilities (which tend towards the baroque, much to the chagrin of my editors), I could not, over the course of minutes to hours, transform into a needlessly—and some might even say annoyingly, excessively, even masturbationally—long sentence.
What is your favorite TV show that is not:
1) part of a franchise
2) a police procedural or any kind of crime solving
3) A workplace comedy
Adding:
4) Medical procedurals

YOU think that mermaid show is cringe and corny and just for laughs. I see that it’s a love letter to teenage girls, their feelings, their thoughts, their lives, their losses, ocean conservation, animals being smarter than humans, girlhood, girlfriends, friendship, secrets, shame, broken homes, divorce, anxiety, helplessness, third spaces, bullying, kids being kids, gaslighting, love bombing, the space between being a girl to a teenager to a woman, high school, ‘obviously you’ve never been a 17 year old girl’ AND SO MUCH MORE!!!!
Im gonna shill for Marie Kondo again but this is why I find her books (yes, books, the TV show is fun but ultimately misses a lot of the core ideas) so good.
A lot of home org advice fully misses this aspect. Kondo not only acknowledges it, but leans into it. And ultimately this helps motivste me to keep my space tidy - it's really hard to me to keep on the nebulous goal of self-care, but much easier to get up and put things away if I envision my salt and pepper grinders as like, retail workers who are now standing in an empty shop (my dining table) and just wanna go home (the spice rack where they live).
Normie tidying process: that heater should be put away for summer! I mean, I'm not gonna need it
Me: well it's just chilling and also I can't be arsed.
Kondo: that heater has done a good job keeping you warm over winter and now it should get to go have a rest in the cupboard
Me: !! Sabbatical for my heater!! Thank you for your service sir and have a very nice break!
just saw a tiktok or something where the person was saying they did this and they were on a hike and they were like "i managed to get myself to go on this hike because i promised my boots we would go" and its like. OH YEAH. THAT.
