My prefered approach to interpreting the franchise is events that unfold aren't "true and real history" of Hyrule but legends of the world they're from, and just as writers and stories riffing on eachother and previous material to have interesting and fun ideas.
BUT it is fun to think about BotW/TotK as a true history of the world.

I've just learned of the existence of the website historyofhyrule dot com, and it has an incredible amount of rare Zelda art. And my favourite thing is how back then the artists of guidebooks and tie-in stories only had tiny sprites to work with, and as a result we have a whole bunch of versions of the characters.
Because Zelda finally got a solo game, and we are in the Age of Women, mayhaps please pretty please may we get a Spirit Tracks remake 🥺
