Here's my second fanart for the @fanartfrenzy event, filling the prompt "create art for a fic you've commented on". I went with one of my recent favourites, "Defying Gravity" by the wonderful author The_Buzz. To me this fic feels like an actual TOS episode, if they had the possibility of achieving that kind of special effects in the 60s. Unfortunately we'll never see that TOS episode, but at least I can offer this little drawing instead!
It's my first time drawing a background so let's all ignore it and be thankful that photoshop has a blurring tool. Other than that, even though I still don't have the skill to accurately portray what I visualize in my head, I'm slowly seeing some improvement in my art :)
Also that Space Oddity verse, "here am I floating 'round my tin can" was playing on loop in my head the whole time I was working on this. Help.

I'm looking for something that has a lot of plot outside of spirk, but also still has a healthy dose of spirk! They can already be together, getting together, slow burn, quick burn, etc. as long as they are in love at some point while some sci-fi shenanigans are also going down. In the Immunity Syndrome, Spock telepathically experienced the collective shock and terror of 400 Vulcans as they died. And yet, in the Kelvin Timeline, Spock experienced no telepathic backlash whatsoever when 6 billion Vulcans were wiped out of existence along with their home planet. This story, set in the TOS universe, reimagines the destruction of Vulcan and the far-reaching repercussions this kind of loss might have.
