hey would you possibly be up for sharing how you make gifs? Or just how you began to make them in general? Thanks in advance :)
First, I get my screencaps from KMPlayer. For that, just press ctrl+g and this window will appear
Make sure you have those options selected, and then select the scene you want to gif.
Once you have the screencaps, open Photoshop.
In order to load your screencaps, you have to go to File ➡ Scripts ➡ Load Files into stack
Click on browse and select all the screencaps you want to load. Once they are loaded, just click on OK
Now wait until everything is loaded. It will take a while. Depending on your computer’s memory size, this process might take even longer, so be patient.
Once all the screencaps are loaded, it should look like this
If you don’t have the animation part, just go to Window ➡ Animation.
The screencaps are loaded, so now we are going to resize the file. For that, we go to Image ➡ Image Size
This window will appear, and we change the sizes to 503px and 283px (I use the old Tumblr sizes, because I’m that stubborn, so if you can use the new ones, feel free to do that)
Now, in order to avoid getting and annoying white line surrounding our gif, we need to change the canvas size. So, we go to Image ➡ Canvas Size
And we type 500px and 280px
Now, we have to turn our file into a gif. For that, click on the upper right side of the animation window, and select make frames from layers
But when we do this, the gif is in reverse. In order to fix that, we click on the same place and select reverse frames
After this, it’s time to sharpen. First, make sure you are in the same frame as the layer that it belongs. You will know which layer is showing by the eye that appears next to the layer.
Note: I know there are scripts that can be used to sharpen gifs, but they’ve never worked for me, so I have to sharpen each and every frame manually.
I go to Filter ➡ Smart Sharpen
And then, I click crtl+f until I have sharpened every single frame.
Once the gif is sharpened, it’s time to color. For that, make sure you are on the top layer
And then, you just start adding layers. I mostly use these ones on most of my gifs
But the values are constantly changing, because the lightning and the colors are different for every scene. So feel free to experiment and change the values until you’re satisfied
Once you’re done with your coloring, go back to the top right corner of the animation window and click on select all frames
Then, click on the tiny triangle and select the time in between frames. I usually choose 0.1
Now that your gif is done, all we have to do is save it. For that, go to File ➡ Save for Wed and Devices
This window will appear. Tumblr now can support gifs to 8MB if I’m not wrong, but I highly suggest you to keep your gifs under 3.5MB
Given that my gif is smaller than 3.5MB, I save it, and this is the result
