“Not yet,” Glimmer countered pointedly, though remained rather expressionless in an attempt to not let Spencer read her. “We’re good, yeah. Great, actually. It’s starting to feel like home here.” The blonde could be a rather good liar when she wanted to be, refusing to let Spencer see the fractures in their relationship. She was already insecure enough about it; having someone that got under her skin as much as the woman before her did would drive her insane. “Where have you been all this time?” And why didn’t you stay there? Glimmer bit her tongue.

Spencer let the sarcasm slide, because Glimmer was right. She had planned to ask about Marvel, of course she had, but she’d at least expected to get through half an uncomfortable conversation first. Mentioning him outright only would’ve irritated the blonde, more so than her mere presence already had. “Well that’s… good.” Spencer wasn’t entirely sure she believed her, but that was based more on past experience than anything else. It was hard for the rebels to view anywhere as home, long term. “I was looking for something. Researching. You wouldn’t be interested.” Even if she was, Spencer didn’t trust her enough to keep her mouth shut, not when it was a topic so important to her.

Glimmer stopped in her tracks, not having expected to see her. Or rather, hoping she wouldn’t have to. Clearly, the word about Alexandria had spread far and wide. Jaw clenched, feeling the tension, the blonde stared at her for a moment, not sure what to say. “Right. Of course I did.” The sarcasm was obvious, but it wasn’t like the pair had ever had a friendly conversation. “Marvel, too, I’m sure.”

“I didn’t ask about Marvel,” Spencer replied defensively, as though Glimmer had insulted her. She’d hoped any drama could be left in the past, but she supposed that was hard to do without an apology. Still, if she could avoid the dreaded ‘s’ word, she would. “… How is he? How are you?”
