i get so confused when people say christine is reduced to spock's love interest.

mostly bc out of all snw characters, christine is portrayed to be the most passionately in love with her career. yes, all other characters are dedicated professionals with talents too, but i think snw writers really managed to show just why christine being a commander in the future makes a perfect sense. i wouldn't even be surprised to find out that she becomes a captain one day.

she is also one of those characters who is shown to suffer from emotional and mental health issues. she has ptsd from war, committment and vulnerability issues.

she is a breath of fresh air when it comes to female characters - she loves freedom, loves her career, loves to flirt, is hot af but in a way that is for the gays and the girlies.

focusing on christine's love life isn't reducing her to the role of a love interest, it's just making her storyline romantic. and snw doesn't make her into some side chick, it makes her truly be spock's greatest love, at least in snw canon.

Chapel/Spock in Amok Time is so interesting now

because it feels like both of them have regrets over their relationship; sometime during the past, Spock went back to T'Pring, but it probably wasn't his own choice. He doesn't want to go to Vulcan, and he doesn't want to marry T'Pring, but he still expects that T'Pring would marry him - her not wanting that was a surprise for him.

BUT, if Chapel didn't tell Spock they were finally bound for Vulcan, Spock would sleep with Chapel. Not as a substitute, but because he wanted to, because he knew Christine also wanted to, but when she told him about Vulcan, he backed off because if they were going to Vulcan, T'Pring was waiting and he had a duty to perform

That whole scene in Spock's quarters is just so full of regrets

hello there! thanks for this ask and sorry for answering it a bit late!

well, first of all, i genuinely appreciate this suggestion! the fact that some of you guys like my silly little christine/spapel posts enough to suggest me organizing a discord for fellow shippers makes me really happy! 💙

but unfortunately, i don't think i will be able to do it rn bc 1) i have never used discord before so i'm not sure how it works, 2) i'm very busy these days and won't be able to do a good job at being an admin/organizer.

that being said, i really hope that someone organizes a discord for spapel shippers and christine fans! i would gladly join that discord! and i genuinely think that our fandom should indeed have a discord by now!

so, i hope someone takes up the initiative to organize it! if not, maybe i will do it eventually, but not rn so i hope someone else will volunteer first!

What's your wish list for SNW season 2? 🙂

Heh, I don’t think I have one but I guess I want them to mean something to each other. I know they won’t end up together but I do want Spock to have romantic feelings for Chapel. But hey! They already retconned Spock and T’Pring so maybe we will get to see them in a relationship! It would be super satisfying. A big gripe I have with fandom is how dismissive people can be about Chapel and I like seeing the forgotten eighth member of the main cast remembered.
