I'll take pretty much anything, just don't push any boundaries and be patient! (If you're having difficulty accessing pages on mobile, I suggest trying to copy the link and pasting it into any browser)
Information about me under the cut!
To be transparent, I do have mental illnesses (NPD + other issues) and autism which may influence social interactions.
Hello! You may call me by any name you know me by but I'd like to be called Carlo!
In terms of creative work, my postings will mostly be Three Body Problem and original characters! My other interests include spy/spy-adjacent media, classic literature, fountain pens, astronomy, interpretations of quantum mechanics, and much more!
Toyhou.se for my OCs!
I'm always happy to talk philosophy with people so feel free to send philosophy related asks even if it's outside of my specializations! My main areas of interest include metaphysics and the philosophy of physics.
Also, I'm always willing to accept music recommendations! My favorite bands include Tricot, Kurrock, Jannabi, and Wings of the ISANG! Music posting tag is #rouge radio!
I have a few side blogs as well:
Three Body Problem Ramblings: @cosmicsociology
Interpretations of Quantum Mechanics OCs: @quantumdetectiveagency
On another note, feel free to correct/educate me about any subject in general so I can better myself! After all, I don't want to remain ignorant and I do try to educate myself whenever I can.
No DNI: I can't stop anybody from perceiving my stuff, but no hard feelings if I block for personal comfort or any other reason.
Three-Body community is very active this year, and we got these two official art to celebrate Shi Qiang's birthday on July 22nd. It looks like that Ding Yi dragged Dashi to a surprise birthday party, and Wang Miao was there to capture his reaction. And he got really surprised either by the party or that poster or both LOL.
One thing that hints Shiwang on the poster is the two lines right below his name 史强. It says "He doesn't understand quantum physics, but he knows how to get to the scientist".
Still need more Shiwang agenda? We got these as well:
Three-Body community's weibo account has been posting these daily calendar pages this month with a quote from the novels. Of course on July 22nd, Shi Qiang's birthday, we got a Shi Qiang quote, and it's that iconic bug line. And thankfully, they included Miaomiao in the shot, but excluded Ding Yi LOL. This is definitely the wholesome Shiwang content I need on Dashi's birthday.
I also want to point out that on traditional chinese calendars, you always get today's dos and don'ts (eg. today is good for having a wedding; today is bad for moving). And on Shi Qiang's birthday, it says the day is good for having luzhu which is his favourite food (even his Three-Body game username is luzhu/卤煮). This is really a very Shiwang thing too because they always go to that luzhu diner to meet up and eat.
Since we are already talking about the calendar, on July 20th, it quoted something Wang Miao said to Shi Qiang which is "Your bravery is coming from ignorance", and the dos and don'ts for that day is that you should not bicker. This is also such a Shiwang thing to mention because they bicker like an old married couple all the damn time LOL. We also get the silhouette of Miaomiao's profile and Shi Qiang holding a gun, so this is obviously Shiwang themed.
Anyways, I really appreciate the staff behing Three-Body community's weibo account. I can't wait to see what they come up with in November for Miaomiao's birthday. As for today, I'm sure after the hot pot party, Dashi and Miaomiao would go to that luzhu diner to have their own little celebration <3.
Documenting my current philosophy of chemistry research because I'll admit that I have not taken a chemistry class since highschool... However, I also really want to work on that periodic table and Water Margin combination for a new OC project I mentioned previously, so I'm trying to do some research even if it's kind of overwhelming haha. I'm looking at Philosophy of Chemistry: Synthesis of a New Discipline and the introductory chapter really inspired me where it's about the invisibility of chemistry in philosophy. The idea of the philosophy of chemistry as being on the margins (heh) of the philosophy of science is something I definitely want to focus on since I wanted a similar metaphilosophical message like Quantum Detective Agency.
Okay, funny thing but I am at the point where I recognize a lot of notable philosophers of quantum mechanics now and you can imagine how going from a branch where I know a lot of people to "I recognize none of you" might be overwhelming for me haha. Though, I did look into Eric Scerri and he has a cool appropriately periodic table themed website!
I wonder if watching Vietnamese football will be what finally makes me fluent in the language haha......After the World Cup, I'd like to get into football more (ASEAN Championship soon yay). This is another step towards my goal of achieving Vietnamese uncle aura.
I am not tuned into 007 First Light, so I don't know anything about what actually happens, but oh my god??? ONE OF MY FAVORITE VIETNAMESE BANDS CONTRIBUTED TO THE SOUNDTRACK?? VIETNAM MISSION AND I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW???
I was looking through the description for Saigon Soul Revival's upcoming album on their Bandcamp (here) and got so jumpscared in the best way possible...Nobody can understand how monumental this is for me holy shit.
Information so surreal I had to double check if it was actually real...??? Okay, so Vietnamese bands tend to be obscure internationally and Saigon Soul Revival (which I know have a song included in The Sympathizer so they're getting more of an international presence <- I have not watched that though) is particularly niche. By the way, listen to Saigon Soul Revival. If you like classic rock and soul, then it's a revival band trying to bring back sounds in the 60s-70s!

Not a serious post despite the overall tone, but there is something incredibly evil about philosophy being my literal life and yet being unable to feel like I fit in with non-philosophy majors who have philosophy as a shared interest...??
Your artstyle is like your gut microbiome in the way its everything you consume and like and it also has all your bacteria up in it. Thats probably how that works
I am at the age where I start getting into watching sports. The World Cup is so fun so far that I may tune into the ASEAN Championship afterwards to keep the football hype going.

I find peace in knowing that everyone doesn't know shit about quantum mechanics. Every single time I think I understand something, I later encounter something scary that humbles me immensely. However, I think what's important is that knew more than I did before. [1]
It is genuinely so difficult for Watanabe to hate anybody because of their background in academia and philosophy...He has to be open-minded (even to outrageous takes) and he always tries to understand other people. Even with criminals, he'll treat them like students to establish his authority and also because he genuinely hopes that they can learn to change for the better.
HOWEVER, the exception is people who use science for their own self-benefit where it's easier for them to start becoming a hater. It's both because they believe that science should be for the sake of humanity (based on Satosi Watanabe's supposed anti-war stance here...I do not have another source as I am not proficient in Japanese) and also because they have a more petty reason that their autistic special interest is being misrepresented.
(For a slightly unrelated note, I am adding more references to the namesake physicists in my characters as fun details to include hehe.)
Art is pretty awesome because I, a guy who would normally be the weird outcast 9 out of 10 social situations, can be treated like one of the cool kids for my artwork. I was thinking about how it kind of sucks that if I didn't do art, then I would not have any of the friends/acquaintances I made to be quite frank. However, I realized that if I had a more overtly shitty personality, then I wouldn't be maintaining said connections so it balances out.
I also realized that I can game the system and I have resolved to actively improve my art further so I can trick somebody else into falling for my GRW theory propaganda. I can be be more weird and off-putting, which people won't really care if my art is good enough to let stuff like....okay I will not reveal that side to me yet. However, people will let that slide and have a delayed "oh shit that's what Carlo thinks about with actual quantum theories" response.
