yes, it is me, rina again. if u have me on discord ( giselle supremacy#0884 ) this fc choice is not v surprising but this lucky muse has been sitting in my head and brewing up a storm for quite some time and i love her so much. her bio is much more informative than hailey’s so pls do give it a read if you ever have a chance uwu otherwise i’m still working on a proper plots page for her but under the cut will just be some ramblings about my lil babie 👻💖
so just some backstory but i tried to keep to the original irony behind lucky’s name in regards to them not actually being lucky at all lol
her name hyejin is made up from the characters 惠 (hye: good fortune) and 眞 (jin: honesty?? truth?? can’t remember tbh but u kno the vibe dsjkf) // her japanese name is similar, using the same character 惠 (megumi) translating into something similar
and then kudo (and her dad’s occupation) is a reference to my favorite anime detective conan hehe
overall she’s v sweet but always been a bit eccentric (read: she’s not like other girls)
used to be rather quiet but one day she kinda just.......changed? and started being super open about everything and doesn’t have a filter anymore
tells a lot of tall tales to cope with being alone..........also people think that it’s funny now sooo??
pulled a lot of pranks in school, so she became known as “boo” since she would say it so often
she grew a liking towards scary movies in particular when she accidentally walked in on her dad watching one when she was supposed to be asleep. she liked that her dad would comfort here whenever she was afraid <3
but now that he’s gone, they’re just a bit nostalgic for her and she’s basically the mad at disney song personified
in general she just really likes movies and wants to pursue a career in it one day!!
but for now she’s delivering mail between eastbell and starden and quite content doing so
she’s friendly on the outside but pretty secretive on the inside and doesn’t actually let anyone get particularly close to her (again, back to her strange stories being used as a cover up dsjfh)
some quick plot/connection ideas???
movie lovers club!! gonna be making this soon so if your muse is interested pls lmk!!
some old bullies from school who don’t really remember that they used to tease her and consider them friends
fellow mystery novel lovers!!! they can solve cases together or wuheva
to all the boys i’ve loved before moment.........hyejin is kitty.....and she sees your letter addressed to someone that u never intended to be sent out and she sends it out with all the other letters for the day, not realizing
sad to see starden go, but thank you for loving my babies hailey and hyejin for the short time that they were around!!! sorry for my decline in activity and my inability to write with you all, but hopefully one day we can meet again!! ♡
( not me copying and pasting straight from hailey’s post lmao ) i think i’ll be putting a pause on non-event threads unless they will affect how our muses interact with each other on the trip. so feel free to give this a like if you want a short event starter from hyejin!!!
hyejin was adorable. there was no way around it; anything the younger female did evoked a sense of admiration inside of sora. she was so nice and bubbly all the time, plus she always reacted in a funny way whenever she was being complimented — which was exactly why sora had made it a task for herself to tell her something nice whenever their paths crossed. which wasn’t too often, unfortunately. “ what? you should learn how to say ‘thank you’ and take the compliment instead of asking someone why they said it to you in the first place. ” her tone of voice was soft, yet a little taunting at the same time. truth be told, seeing hyejin around always brightened her otherwise dull day at work; she wanted to make sure that the other knew that. “ just accept the fact that you’re ridiculously pretty and go. stop fighting me. ”
Hyejin couldn’t fight the other’s words even if she wanted to. Not only did she greatly admired her, but she respected her just as much (if not more). Sora had always been unapologetically herself, omitting an aura of badass energy that Hyejin hoped to emulate herself, one day. “Thank you.” She pouted, ultimately giving in to her words against her desires. “I’ll take the L today, but next time won’t be so easy— I can assure you of that!” Hyejin playfully shook her fists in the air, always being one for theatrics. “Anyway, I came here today to tell you that there’s a box for you at the postal office but it was too heavy for me to actually carry. So this is just me informing you of your package by word of mouth. If you have free time, feel free to stop by! Otherwise, I’m not sure when the next worker who can actually deliver it to you will be coming by.”
the final aquarius display is finished, albeit later than intended, and the female decides to take a moment to relax. it’s not easy trying to get things done when you have a habit of allowing yourself to get sidetracked or are too nice to tell a rambling visitor that you have other work you need to attend to. not that byul minded the latter, of course; she welcomed it —— which was part of her problem. tucked away in her small office space, the astronomer begins to tidy up, organising the contents on her desk. a handful of various books, journals, and different colored pens decorate the space, along with a few knick-knacks gifted to her by friends and certain patrons of the observatory.
her final pen is placed within its caddy when she hears the knock on the door, her service smile already beginning to tug at her lips, soon replaced with a real one when the familiar voice reaches her ears. ❝ the fairies? ❞ she spins in her chair, hands clasped excitedly underneath her chin, ❝ i knew i loved them for a reason! ❞ she chuckles softly as she gestures for the other to enter, ❝ come in, come in! are you all finished for the evening or are you due back to the postal office? actually, just stay here with me for a little anyway; we’ll tell them you were abducted by one of those aliens you were warning everyone about! ❞
“I’ll have you know that I’m actually the Princess of the fairies and will be taking that comment personally.” A playful grin spread across her lips as she happily skipped over to join the other at her insistence. Even if she were needed back at the postal office, Hyejin was notorious for taking her deliveries at her own pace. By now, her co-workers had come to expect that anytime she went out on delivery, the girl was certain to take some time dallying around. “Little ‘ol me just trying to protect the lovely citizens of the twin islands.” She giggled to herself, quickly distracted by the exhibit around her.
“Whooooa, eonnie, did you make these all yourself? Or did you, perhaps, go diving in the deep blue sea to uncover the hidden treasure left by pirates of Starden’s secret past?”
“just remember who carried your stuff– oof–” rain caught the bags with a little less grace than he’d like, “–when the aliens invade.” how had he fallen into the business of pack-muling hyejin’s equipment around even after she showed signs of being an intergalactic traitor? the answer was somehow movies. hyejin’s range of cinematic experience was both frightening and impressive, and until rain finally tapped into the adventurer’s spirit that supposedly ran into his genes, adventures were just as well experienced through movies as through real life. probably.
in that sense, hyejin was like his safari wildlife guide and therefore pretty indispensable, and carrying heavy things around was one of rain’s best traits anyway, so he adjusted her bags more comfortably in his arms and squinted at the low-hanging sun. “scouting’s just for figuring out where you want to shoot, right?” he asked, trying to scrounge up the terms he’d picked up from their time working together. “which film’s this for, again? are we going to be outside? ‘cause i saw that it might drizzle tonight, but my last good raincoat got ripped up and i don’t have my flashlight anymore, so i don’t have anything with me, and what if we get caught out and it gets dark and wet?”
"Mm, yeah. Got it. You want to be taken as the first, honorable sacrifice.” At first, her words were rather nonchalant as she waved the other off, focusing solely on the site ahead of her. However, once her words had become even the slightest bit cynical, Hyejin made sure to glance back at him with a cheeky grin. As always, her words were in jest; mostly, she was just interested in reactions. From Rain, she always seemed to receive the best range of them. It was amusing, to say the least, and Hyejin didn’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
“Correcto!” She responded to his question with a finger gun of conclusiveness, waving it around for a few seconds. The girl was proud in how far Rain had come since their first outing. “We wanna check out the area before hand to ensure that we can actually film all the shots we need. First of all, I wanna see if we have enough space— a huuuge area to set up all our equipment and still be able to run around a bit.” Hyejin began her list with this first point, spreading her hands out up and over her head to emphasize her words even further. “Also, if we didn’t scout beforehand and it looks funny in test shots, then we would effectively waste our time.” The simple thought of it was enough to shake her head in disapproval.
“This is the one about the person and the thing and running and chasing and scary BOO! Y’know?” Despite her unhelpful description, the girl continued to shoot him a look of expectancy. Hyejin listened quietly to his worries before placing a hand on his shoulder. Her gaze locked with his, piercing and unwavering. “If that happens, you take the gear and you run without a second thought. Even if zombies fall out of the sky and I beg you to help me, don’t. You understand me, soldier?”
hello friends!! i believe i’ve caught up on all the replies / starters i owed for hyejin, but if i missed you just give me a lil nudge~
i’ve also finally got a proper PLOT PAGE set up with a few ideas!! i may add more if my brain manages to come up with anything, but for now we have what we have lol
She’d come to the museum to complete a simple task: pick up a parcel and take it back to the post office. However, it was no surprise that Hyejin wound up wandering around the exhibits, burning daylight before actually getting to her job. It was then that she ran into a somewhat familiar face chatting with some plants. While she was certain that he hadn’t been someone who’d grown up on the islands, the girl recalled seeing his face around maybe once or twice. Nevertheless, she tilted her head curiously, but quickly kneeled down to accompany him in doing so. “Whatcha two talkin’ about?” The girl was not shy to speak up, poking her nose into their business. “Do all the flowers in this museum get such special treatment? I wasn’t aware that Blathers hired a gardener. But then again, sometimes he chats so long that I’m no longer able to follow along with the conversation. So maybe he did say something and it’s just my oopsie.”
From an outsider’s perspective, anyone would find it strange to come across Hyejin staring so intently into Graciegrace’s windows. As if her piercing stare wasn’t enough, the girl eventually made her way up to the glass, her arms and face sticking to it like a child looking into a candy store. While she’d always admired the high end pieces on display, Hyejin could not afford the luxury of splurging on such items. So instead, she settled with window shopping until feeling satisfied for the day. It wasn’t until she felt someone watching her that Hyejin turned around suddenly, eyes frantic as she scanned around for the culprit.
“Whoever you are, I was just testing to see if the windows here were sturdy enough for faces— and they are, incase you were wondering!”
"Eonni, have you ever considered doing more than just sing at Club LOL?” She leaned against the bar counter, resting her chin in the palm of her hand as she spoke to the other. Hyejin only recently became of age to be granted permission into the nightclub, and ever since, she made it a point of hers to go out at least once or twice a week to catch some of the performances there. Jieun happened to be one of her favorites. “I don’t know if you know, but I once spent sometime abroad training under an entertainment company. I almost debuted but, alas, I was homesick for the islands and came back after summer break was over. You could definitely do the same!”
While out delivering mail, it wasn’t uncommon for Hyejin to take a break at the local businesses around island. Today, she made a stop at Sora’s shop. Personally, she had no knowledge in bikes, but she certainly wasn’t obliged to learn. Especially since the elder was always so kind and charming, there was an aura about her that kept the younger around. Hyejin truly admired Sora’s character and ability to do what she wanted in life, without a care in the world. While they didn’t speak to each other much back in school, she spent more time with her now that their schedules were a bit more flexible without classes. “Senpai, why do you always say things like that?”
"Thank you for doing this, Rain! I owe you one!” She shot the other a bright smile, just before tossing her bags into his arms. “You’re seriously the best!” Hyejin chuckled underbreath with a mischievous grin, shooting an encouraging thumbs up. After being offered assistance once, the girl certainly wouldn’t turn down the opportunity for more. Besides, the camera equipment was heavy on her gentle, frail arms. “We’re just doing some location scouting today, so we should finish soon enough. Then I’ll treat you to anything you want, pinky swearsies.”
seonmi’s been working at the twin islands’ gazette for a little over two months, settling into the job and all its little vagaries. the residents aren’t all too keen to be interviewed, most of the time; perhaps there’s not much use in profiles on who’s who in the islands when the population numbers fewer than a cram school in seoul. but that makes for a dry lifestyle column, and seonmi’s always on the lookout for something that’ll spice it up!
and in walks her answer to that problem, possibly. the girl is young and walks into the office with a bounce, confident and present. “oh, hello,” seonmi greets the visitor, tilting her head. it’s entirely unusual for someone to just step into the office and declare themselves a person of interest. she darts her eyes over to her coworker on the right and they immediately avoid her gaze. huh.
well, she figures this won’t hurt. “yes, i work for the gazette, but… may i get your name, first?” she says. their business columnist is frantically shaking their head. too bad seonmi can’t see it; she gestures to the chair in front of her instead, an open curiosity for whatever the stranger has to say. out of sight, one of the writers for current affairs has faceplanted into their desk. seonmi leans forward, picking up her voice recorder. “would you mind if i record this… interview?” of a sorts, she supposes, “let’s hear it!”
Her eyes practically light up at the sight of a recorder. It would be a lie to say that she would have much rather it be a camera (for theatrics, of course), but this worked just fine. An overly smug grin took over her facial features as she nodded, granting permission. “I would not mind at all. We want as many people as possible to hear this, after all.”
Hyejin felt a rush of excitement run up her spine as she readied herself to tell her tale. It had been quite some time since she’d laid eyes on a fresh face. She craved a new reaction to her antics that, unfortunately, had been a rare occurrence when considering the majority of the island residents had watched her grow up, all these years. The girl cleared her throat with a fabricated cough, loudly enough to signal the room that her story was about to begin.
“For starters, my name is Kudo Hyejin, age: old enough, and occupation...” She sighed, dramatically, her eyes wandering away to a far off location. The girl resumed her stance for exactly one minute, letting the silence flood the room with anticipation. As soon as time was up, her head snapped back towards the other, Hyejin’s eyes wide and focused on the newbie before her. “I’m actually a runaway Princess. While I was set to be crowned as the next Queen of Galyra, the palace was attacked and overrun by a secret group of witches! I was forced to flee to this islands in search of a chosen one who is destined to save my Kingdom!”
Following their exchange of messages, Hyejin became increasingly excited to start reading another book with the other. Despite their difference in age, the girl never found it to be an issue. The two bonded easily over a shared love for books; although mysteries were a favorite between the pair, they read books of all sorts. For Hyejin, who was muchlonelierr than her persona made her out to be, Byul’s company was greatly appreciated and very much welcome.
Since the post office was relatively slow that day, the girl decided to use the downtime to go book shopping for both Byul and herself. While she knew that online books were always an easily accessible option, Hyejin found a sort of comfort in being able to hold a physical copy in her hands.
After making the purchase, the girl wrapped it in leftover parchment paper that had been sitting around the empty post office, readying the book for a simple delivery. She hugged the package close as she made her way down to the museum’s observatory.
Upon arrival, Hyejin knocked against the doorframe playfully as a form of greeting. “Special delivery for a certain Miss. Yoo Eunbyul— from the fairies of a far off land!”
